The Indiana University Kokomo Library encourages students to come try technology that will make their research easier, at the “Come Play at Our Open House,” Wednesday, September 12.

Librarians will have tables in Upper Alumni Hall from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with mobile devices available for students to try to EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). This tool allows researchers to explore numerous databases at the click of a mouse, rather than using several search engines.

IU Kokomo and IU Bloomington are the only IU libraries offering EDS, according to Angie Thorpe, digital user experience librarian.

“This allows our students to find source materials much more quickly, so they can spend their time reading and taking notes, rather than tracking down source materials,” Thorpe said. “Our open house is a chance for students to test drive this system and see how easy it is to use.”

Librarians will help students use the EBSCO system on an iPad, a Motorola Xoom tablet and a laptop. There will also be lemonade and giveaways.
