Last night the Wildkat boys’ tennis team traveled north to face a tough Plymouth squad. The boys came away with a 3-2 win.
The singles players were very efficient in their straight-set victories. All three spots played high-level tennis and only dropped a total of five games in the process. At number one, Jon Callane won by the score of 6-0, 6-0. At number two, Pablo Ketterer won by the score of 6-2, 6-0, and at number three, Jackson Richards won by the score of 6-1, 6-2.
The doubles teams faced a tough challenge against the Pilgrims. Number-one doubles Nathaniel Elkin and Ty Lauderbaugh found themselves down a set 6-1 but battled to make the second very competitive in a 6-4 loss. Number two doubles turned out to be an exciting match in which the boys forced a third set after dropping the first. Taylor Duncan and Drew Swain came up just shy of winning.
The JV had a tough time last night in a 6-1 loss. The lone winners were the doubles team of Rajon Sellers and Shade Chadwell.
The Kats will take to the courts again tomorrow night at Alexandria High school at 5 p.m.
