Snapshots from the Carver Center youth leagues in action

UNDERDOG — Rockets guard Kingston Levier knows that size matters not and brought all the energy for the Rockets on Jan. 21 against the Trailblazers. The game was almost too close to call, which is why all the players were winners on Thursday night.

LAYUP — Trailblazers guard Caleb Sawyer goes up for the layup, just getting past D'Kayden Gipson who played solid defense all night. Sawyer provided a speedy burst for the Blazers and was always quick to get up and down the court. Both of these guards have promising futures in the sport.

BREATHER — It's always extra important to take advantage of the timeouts by hydrating with the player's choice of Gatorade, water, or Sprite in this case. But make sure to check the scoreboard to stay aware of the game situation, so when put back into the game the team won't miss a beat.

PROTECTION — Rockets guard D'Kayden Gipson plays keep-away from the swarming Trailblazers defense. He led all scoring for the Rockets and was the best handler on the floor that night. The ball was in his hands a lot because of that, and he made the Blazers pay.

SHOOTER — Trailblazers' Titus Rickner goes up for the midrange jumper late in the game. Rickner provided an energetic spark for the team and scored a few baskets to give them a lead.
LEADER — Trailblazers Head Coach Danny Patterson rallies the troops during a timeout for the kindergarten to second grade age group. The emphasis was rebounding and getting more of them.
