The Kokomo boys’ tennis team took to the road for a second time this week to face a very competitive Alexandria squad. The boys won in a 5-0 victory.
The singles trio of Jon Callane, Pablo Ketterer, and Jackson Richards all played high-level tennis only dropping a combined three games in the process. Both doubles teams also came away victorious in straight sets. At number-one doubles, Ty Lauderbaugh and Rajon Sellers came back from an 0-3 start to win their match by the score of 6-4, 6-1. The number two doubles team of Nathanael Elkin and Taylor Duncan were dominant from start to finish in their 6-1, 6-1 effort.
The junior varsity team also got a convincing win by the score of 6-0. Singles winners included Shade Chadwell and Isaac Elkin. Doubles winners were Drew Swain/Bobby Wonnell, Caleb Wallace/Griffen Hulet, Jacob Walker/Lucas Cummings, and Drake Hester/Karson Parrott.
The varsity moved to 2-0 on the season and the JV 1-1. Next, the Kats will host a strong Mississinewa team that returned every player from their district ranked team last year.
