A dedicated group of volunteers have been working diligently to restart the Eastern Athletic Booster Club. After approval of the bylaws in June, the executive board went quickly to work cultivating relationships in the community. On Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m., they will be putting on their first big event at the football practice field: "Meet the Comets" night.

"Meet the Comets" will be a night of recognition and celebration for all fall varsity athletes. Complete with games, music, giveaways, and a free hog roast, the whole family will have something to enjoy.

CometNation looks to capitalize on the groundswell of support for Eastern athletics in recent years. Vice President Alec Downing said, "With 22 conference titles in the past four years, there’s no wonder everyone on this half of Howard County is excited about Comet athletics."

According to Treasurer Tim Weeks, "Our team cannot be more thankful for the support of the Eastern school board and administration. Everyone has been such a great help in getting our vision off the ground. Superintendent (Keith) Ritchie, (Principal Brad) Fugett, and (Athletic Director) Erik Hisner have been phenomenal to work with, and we are excited to restart this booster club while we have the school’s leadership in our corner."

CometNation, the official booster club of Eastern Comets athletics, aims to promote Eastern spirit, opportunities, and success in Greentown and beyond. They can be reached by phone at 765-201-0116 or by email at
