    Monroe Central’s Lady Bears responded Tuesday with a 49-42 victory over Mid-Eastern Conference Shenandoah.

    Jordyn Barga scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and Hannah Bolton netted 18 points and three steals as the 11th-ranked Bears bounced back after a humbling loss on Saturday to No. 4 Winchester.

    Leigh Ann Barga’s squad improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the league. Shenandoah slipped to 5-1 and 1-3 in the MEC.

    With Barga and Bolton making 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the first quarter, the Bears jumped out quickly to a 14-6 lead and extended the lead to 12 at the half. Barga and Bolton scored all but two of the Bears points in a 23-point second half and made 16 of 17 free throws for the Bears.

    Monroe Central hosts Class 3A Yorktown (5-2) tonight in the Bears Den.
