Sandra Sue (Hopkins) Mitchell, also known as "Sandy Helton," 73, was called Home on August 1st, 2019, with family by her side. She was born December 26th, 1945 in Warsaw, Indiana to Lonnie and Elizabeth (Stine) Hopkins. Sandy married Mike Mitchell on March 16th, 1985, and he preceded her in passing on October 1st, 1985.
Sandy sang country music in Kokomo for 20 years. She also worked for Ideal Windows for 10 years. Sandy enjoyed Bingo at the VFW and other places around Kokomo. Family was very important to Sandy, and she will be missed dearly by them.
Sandy leaves behind two daughters Angela (Mark Meeks) Burnette and Lori (Darrell Gillam) Ennis; son Todd Helton; siblings Dwayne Hopkins of Wabash, Linda Kelly of Akron, Elanor Bailey of Akron, Reta Bahney of Akron, and Lorraine Thompson of Lafountaine; four grandchildren Steven (Lindsay) McKinney, Shandia (Shane Carrigan) Thompson, Ryan Stabler, and Summer Stabler; 6 great-grandchildren Tyler Carrigan, Jordan McKinney, Keshawn Stabler, Asia Stabler, Kali Smith, and River Mcwhirt, and one great-great granddaughter Willow Stabler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandy is preceded in passing by her parents; her husband; and one great grandson Lonnie Ennis.
Friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 7th, at Ellers Mortuary, 725 South Main Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Dave ____. Sandy will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens following the ceremony.
