James Lewis Strop, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 12:12 a.m., on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born July 17, 1933, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to James E. and Gladys L. (Arnett) Strop. On September 24, 1954, he married Irma J. Schrader, in Kokomo, and she survives.
James graduated from Kokomo High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Continental Steel as a machine repairman and engine house supervisor and also worked at Syndicate Sales for five years. James was an avid bowler. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren during his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Irma Strop, he is survived by his son, Michael (Angela) Strop; grandchildren, Crisany (Troy) Zook and Zachery Strop; and great-grandchildren, Lola Zook, Lincoln Zook and Lex Zook.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
