Cecil S. Scott, age 88, of Tipton, IN passed away on December 31, 2016 quietly at his home.
Cecil was born on July 19, 1928 in Carthage, TN to Andrew and Rosa (Napier) Scott. On September 27, 1947 Cecil married Marie Walker and they recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Cecil was a member of West Street Christian Church in Tipton, and was a past member of Rotary and Lions International. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, cb radios, and listening to country music.
Cecil was an avid NASCAR enthusiast who rarely missed a race, family events and outings were often planned around a race schedule. Although he loved his racing his passion was his family, he treasured every moment he could spend with them.
Cecil was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retiree from Oakes Manufacturing, John Bean and FMC Corporation in Tipton where he worked as a supervisor. He retired in 1986 after 40 plus years of service to the company. Cecil was also one of the earliest state certified EMT’s to serve in Tipton County.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Marie Scott along with his daughter Debra and her husband Stan Hampton. Also surviving are his two granddaughters; Amber Mason and Kristen and her husband Peter Rusch along with his great grandchildren Lyndi Mason, Liam Mason, Adeline Rusch and Alexandra Rusch. Surviving siblings include; Doris Beasley, Mary Evelyn White, Glenn Scott, Maxey Scott, Connie Stalcup and Martha Western.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Burnice Scott and a sister Dorothy Wilson.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday evening January 5, 2017 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday afternoon January 6, 2017 at Porter’s with Pastor Beth Crouch officiating. Interment will follow at Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery.
