James P. Poff Sr., 60, Kokomo, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, at his residence. Born Dec. 14, 1944, in Kokomo, he was the son of Harold A. and Josephine (Smith) Poff. On Oct. 16, 1965, in San Diego, Calif., he married Barbara Prunty Poff, and she survives.
He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. He retired from Indalex Aluminum in November 2001. He was a member of The Salvation Army Church and enjoyed fishing and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James P. Poff, Jr., and companion Jackie Imus, Indianapolis, David and wife Betty Poff, Kokomo; a daughter, Tina Ahnert and companion Seth McFarren, Kokomo; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Lee, James P. Poff III, Brittani Poff, Natalie Poff, Nathanial Poff, Jeremiah Poff, Morgan Ahnert, Damion Ahnert, Kayla Ahnert, Michael Craig and David Madsen; three brothers, Robert and wife Vicki Poff, Sanford, Fla., Harold and wife Lynetta Poff, Evansville, Jonathon and wife Dawn Poff, Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters, Ramona and husband Chuck Johnson, Spruce Pine, Ala., and Mary Jo and husband Steve Elwood, Mayville, Mich. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Yount.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at The Salvation Army Church, 1101 S. Waugh St., with Col. Harry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of services Friday at the church. Arrangements were handled by Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel.
