Michael Harris, former Chancellor of Indiana University Kokomo, who's resignation was the subject of much speculation, was one of several new hires at Tennessee State.

Here is the press release announcing his retirement:

After nation-wide searches to fill key positions, and as part of her reorganization effort, the President of Tennessee State University, Dr. Glenda Glover, has announced several new appointments at the University.

Dr. Michael Harris,Dean of the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs. Dr. Harris served as Chancellor and Professor of Public and Environmental Affairs, Business and Education at Indiana University Kokomo. He also served as Senior Fellow of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

The announcement is the result of works done by seven search committees appointed by Dr. Glover earlier this year to recommend candidates to fill key positions in the management of Tennessee State University.

“Each search committee performed its responsibilities in a highly productive, open, and efficient manner,” Dr. Glover said in congratulating the committee members.

They were tasked with reviewing the job descriptions, postings and advertisements; developing and implementing a score-card matrix; reviewing applications; conducting interviews; and making recommendations of two to three candidates to the President (for each position) for approval.

The newly appointed officials will join TSU on or before July 1, 2013.
