Patricia A. Kennell

Patricia Ann “Patty” Kennell, 51, Kokomo, passed away at 3:13 am on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born on April 20, 1965, in Frankfort, the daughter of Donald S. & Imogene (Ferguson) Kennell.

Patty was a homemaker who loved making ceramics, crocheting, puzzles and family genealogy. Her grandchildren were her world and she was referred to as the “neighborhood mom”. Patty will be sadly missed and wants everyone to “Always Remember and Never Forget”.

Patricia Louise (DeWitt) Campbell, 66, Kokomo, passed away at 4:30 am on May 23, 2016, at her sons home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 7, 1950, in Logansport, the daughter of Glenn & Dorothy (Toothman) DeWitt. She married John Campbell on December 2, 1987 in Louisville, KY, and he survives.

Patricia was a stay at home mom for the last 28 years. Prior to that she had worked in a Holiday Inn and for the Orange Packing Company. She loved to crotchet, work in her yard, but cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren. Patricia loved giving to other people and if anyone needed anything she would go out of her way to get it for them.

Patricia is survived by her husband, John Campbell, Kokomo; children, Robert (Brandy) Allen, Kokomo, Marsha (William) Elpers, Logansport, and Teri (Steve) Wolfe, Peru; grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Risher, William (Erin) Elpers, Kaitlyn Elpers, Michaela Allen, Jacob Allen, Conner Allen, Jaycee Allen, Jay McKinney, Steven Wolfe, Kody Wolfe, and Dakota Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Caleb Risher, Bryce Risher, Gabriel Risher, and Megan and Kira Wolfe; siblings, Cheryl Robinson, and Janie Shows; brother-in-law, Richard Gibbs.

Jeannine M. Neff

Jeannine M. Neff, 83, of Russiaville passed away at 5:20 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her home. She was born on December 2, 1932 in Olean, NY to Harold and Althea (Quick) Gerringer. On March 5, 1954 Jeannie married Keith D. Neff in Fairfield, CA and he passed away on May 21, 2010.

Jeannine was a 1950 Allegany Central High School graduate and was in the United States Air Force for 4 years. From 1969 to 1992 she worked for Indian Heights Elementary School in maintenance and was a homemaker. Jeannine enjoyed playing Euchre, bowling, working on puzzles, loved to work in her yard and loved caring for her family.

Survivors include her four daughters Diana (Jorge) Neff-Estrada of CA, Donna (Jack) Esslinger of IN, Brenda (Tim) Neff-Ludwig IA, Rhonda Douglas of IN; two sisters Shirley Ketchem of NY, Jacqueline Whalen of CO; three brothers Sonny (Juanita) Gerringer of AR, Charles (Gloria) Gerringer of OH, Jerry (Helen) Gerringer of CA; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Althea Gerringer; husband Keith D. Neff; one brother Carl Gerringer.

Lois A. Harris, 72, of Kokomo, passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at North Woods Village Nursing Home.

Lois was born in Morris County, New Jersey on October 16, 1943 to the late James H. and Elsie Drahosh Harris. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for 50 years and worked as a librarian for the Kokomo Children’s Library.

Lois is survived by her brothers, Don Harris of Tennessee and Bob Harris of South Carolina; and sister, Nancy Landis of St. Louis.

George E. Critchley

George Edward Critchley, 79, of Macy, passed away at 10:08 PM Monday May 23, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Born April 24, 1937 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late George A. Critchley and Ruth Evelyn (Kauble) Critchley. On November 21, 1984 in Kokomo, he married Bonnie Jean (Bell), and she survives. He was employed with Delco Electronics for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #292, Rochester Eagles, American Legion, and V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and playing cards. He was a Chicago Cubs fan, I.U. fan, and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Bonnie Jean Critchley of Macy; two sons Jeff (Pat) Critchley of Winterhaven, Florida, Tony (Barb) Critchley of Greentown; three step-sonsRandy (Andrea) Cline and Jeff Cline, both of Kokomo, Bruce (Tami) Cline of Apex, North Carolina; one step-daughter Tracy (Scott) Baber of Kirklin; two sisters Carolyn (Gordon) LaLonde and Phyllis (Jim) Smith, both of Kokomo; two grandchildren Hannah Critchley and Dionna (Mike) Murphy; step-grandchildren Casey Cline, Courtney (Brett) Talley, Caitlin (Adam) Shotwell, Caden (Ashleigh) Cline, Ashley (Jesse) Lennon, Austin Cline, Brittani Cline, Shaya Baber, Baylee Baber, Stewart (Chelsea) Matlock, Maddie (Jeff) Barton, Landon (Abby) Matlock, and Evan (Amber) Matlock. There are also 17 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; also by a twin sister Ruthann Mugg.

Richard L. Mugg

Richard L. “Dick” Mugg, 78, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on March 24, 1938, in Tipton County, the son of Virgil & Ellen (Wooldridge) Mugg.

Dick was a 1956 graduate of Eastern High School. He then went on to graduate in 1960 from the University of Memphis, and graduated in 1963 from Ball State University with a Master’s degree. Dick began his teaching career in Bluffton. The majority of his years were spent at Eastern High School. During his time at Eastern High School, Dick was involved in many facets of athletics. He enjoyed coaching and mentoring athletes. He also served as athletic director at Eastern High School. Dick was an avid fisherman and loved competing in tournaments with his fishing partner, Doug Pence, and all of his other fishing buddies. Dick found peace on the water.

He was a member of Jerome Christian Church and attended First Church of the Nazarene. Dick was also a member and past Master of the Greentown Masonic Lodge #341 F &AM. Dick was inducted into the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame on October 31, 2015.

F. Hollingsworth

Martha F. Hollingsworth of Russiaville passed away on May 25, 2016, in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born June 28, 1925, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Frankie (Easter) Wimer and Mr. Harry Wimer. She graduated from Ben Davis High School (Indianapolis), and attended Indiana University, Kokomo.

On June 24, 1944, she married Charles E. Hollingsworth of Howard County, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Merry Pilles, Merry’s children Jonathan Pilles, and Amanda (Pilles) Kanable, and her children Kjari and Kayla Taylor; son and daughter-in-law Mark and his wife Kathy Noel, and Mark’s children Elizabeth, Christina, and Luke; and son and daughter-in-law Dr. Joseph and Janet (Vician) Hollingsworth of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and their children Dr. Emma Jean and Max. Preceding Martha in death are her sisters Mary Hamilton (Mt. Vernon, WA), Elizabeth Winkley (Chula Vista, CA), Telsie Bennett (Santee, CA), and Nelle Howard (Chula Vista, CA), and brother Thomas Wimer (Indianapolis).

While running the farm homestead she worked as a legal secretary for a number of law firms and finished out her career at the Indiana State Teachers Association as a UniServe Assistant to all the teachers in Carroll, Cass, Howard, and Tipton counties, and retired in 1990.

She enjoyed reading – she always had a book going. She was a highly competitive Scrabble player, enjoyed working in her flower garden, and enjoyed activities with her children and grand-children.

She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church of western Howard County, she was a founder and life member of Kokomo Civic Theatre, and a member of The Society of Indiana Pioneers.

Randall “Randy” Lee Nelson, 50, Kokomo, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born December 31, 1965, in Howard County, to Jack Don and Mary Helen (Livingston) Nelson. On October 10, 2004, he married Pamela Hanson, and she survives.

Randy enjoyed fishing, was an avid Colts fan, and cherished spending time with his grandkids. He attended Fairview Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Pamela Nelson, he is survived by one son, Blaine Nelson; three daughters, Tiffani (Tim) Hunt, Brandi Powell and Misti (Josh) Kilgore; eleven grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tristan, Da’vion, Tyler, Sueryah, Cullen, Tayjaun, Jonathan, Connor, Lilly, and Taybron; and four sisters, Janice Nelson, Pam (John) Swick, Carol (Greg) Shupperd, and Jackie (Ron) David.

Tim A. Kaiser, 68 of Tipton died at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born on December 1, 1947 in Elwood to Charles A. & Vivian J. (Losey) Kaiser.

Tim had worked for Dana Corporation for 14 years and Exide in Frankfort for 16 years. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Sons of the American Legion.

Tim is survived by one son, Bill Kaiser, Tipton, and one daughter, Laura Portanova and husband Ron, Tipton; one brother, Kim Kaiser and wife Brenda, Greentown; one grandson, Steven Portanova and one granddaughter, Laurissa Sennett and husband Michael; two great-granddaughters, Lucy and Lila Sennett.

Kay Davenport, 74 of Tipton died at 4:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born on December 12, 1941 in Kankakee, Illinois to Glenn E. and Virginia (Meyers) Newcom.

Kay retired from PNC Bank and was a member of East Union Christian Church.

Andrea J. Garmon

Andrea Jane “Janie“ Garmon, age 67, of Tipton, Indiana passed away on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at her home in Tipton. She was born on June 18, 1948 in Madison County, IN to Dewey Roy and Ida Eleanor (Ellis) Shupperd. On April 26, 2003 Janie married RJ Garmon and he survives.

Janie enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, and visiting the casino’s. She collected wind chimes, enjoyed gardening and hitting the neighborhood rummage sales. Her pride was her family and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren. She had retired from Millers Merry Manor in Tipton.

Janie’s survivors include her husband RJ Garmon, her daughter; Dawn Dane, her step children, Kyle (Jamie) Garmon, JJ (Angel) Garmon, and Michelle (Tim) Erny along with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Also surviving is her brother Harold (Jan) Shupperd. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Donny Shupperd, Wanda Ogden, Maxine Delph, Alberta Williams and Allene Sagarsee.

Joseph McCloskey

Joseph “Rex” McCloskey, 93, of Galveston passed away at 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 in Kokomo. He was born March 21, 1923 in Cass County to O. Wilber and Ethel I. (Hubler) McCloskey. He married Ernestine A. Murphy on October 2, 1949 and she preceded him in death on March 28, 1986.

Rex was a lifelong farmer and a Quality Shell Oil Distributor for 38 years. He served his country in WW2 in the Army under General George S. Patton. Rex was a member of the Young America Lions Club, Upper Deer Creek Church, the Walton American Legion Post #418 and the Logansport Veterans of Foreign Wars

Surviving family include his daughter Marla McCloskey Hightower of Kokomo and granddaughter Mikah and husband Dakota Duncan of Kokomo. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ernestine, and siblings, Max, Don Bo, Mary Phyllis, Sue, Wilma, Joan and Jean.

Barbara A. Moore

Barbara Ann (Heninger) Moore, 80, Kokomo, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, in Kokomo at Waterford Health Campus. She was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Kokomo, the daughter of Donald and Lena (Wininger) Heninger.

Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School. Over the years, she worked at various doctor’s offices, the Kolux Corp., and at Howard Community Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. Barbara loved animals, going shopping and out to eat, and watching football with her grandchildren. She was a member of First Friends Meeting in Kokomo.

On June 13, 1953, she married Jack Hunt, who preceded her in death. On March 11, 1973, she married William Moore, who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Lee Heninger.

Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Hunt; her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Dale Shelly; her stepson, Scott Moore; and her stepdaughter, Nicole Perkins; her grandchildren, Brad Shelly, Amanda Shelly, and David Shelly; her step-grandchildren, Aaron Moore, Kain Perkins, and Kayla Perkins; and her great-granddaughter, Lena Marie Parks.

Don J. Vawter

Don Jerrell Vawter, 85, Russiaville, passed away at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. He was born February 20, 1931, in Kokomo, to Ray and Emma (Stewart) Vawter. On May 20, 1951, he married Annabelle Sellers, at Liberty Baptist Church, and she survives.

Don graduated from Prairie Township High School in 1948. He worked at Reliance Manufacturing Company before being drafted into the military and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1951 to 1953. He then attended Kokomo Business College, graduating in 1955, and worked as office manager/bookkeeper for more than forty years for Murray and Davis Incorporated, retiring in May of 1995.

He was a member of West Point Christian Church since 1955, where he previously served as an elder, deacon, treasurer, board chairman, Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was also a member of U.C.T. since 1957 and the Ancient Order of Bagdad and was a former Prairieville Cemetery Board Chairman.

In addition to his wife, Annabelle Vawter, he is survived by his five children, Michael Vawter, Susan Vawter, Karen (Glenn) VanMeter, Kristi Bledsoe and Katrina Vawter; eight grandchildren, Sandy McQuinn (Brian Pigott), Amanda Vawter (Jeff Watkins), Matt (Denee) Vawter, Michael J. Brown, Tyler (Meredith) VanMeter, Tori VanMeter, Anyssa VanMeter and Jake Bledsoe; five great-grandchildren, Brayden Pigott, Annalee Watkins, August Watkins, Marley Vawter and Malayah Vawter; two sisters, Wilma Huse and Sharon Brock; three sisters-in-law, Rosina Vawter, Anita Kessler and Linda Kessler; one brother-in-law, Donald Gene Sellers; and several much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Montoya, 59, Russiaville, passed away at 8:53 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2016 at Community Heart and Vascular, Indianapolis. He was born August 25, 1955 in Racine, WI to Roger and Eloise (Martinez) Montoya.

A graduate of Horlick High School, Racine, WI, Robert went on to study at the Philadelphia School of Art.

Michael Eugene Anderson entered into eternal rest on May 10, 2016 at the age of 55.

He was born October 7, 1960 at Kokomo, Indiana, to Floyd E. Anderson and Janice C. (Smith) Anderson. Michael was a graduate of Haworth High School and spent a short time in the United States Air Force studying weather. He enjoyed cooking, playing the guitar and being a grandpa.

Michael is survived by one son, Aaron Anderson, wife, Misty of Pomona Missouri. One daughter, Ashley (Anderson) Detwiler, husband, James of West Plains, Missouri. His father Floyd E. Anderson, two brothers David Anderson and Danny Anderson. One sister Marla Anderson, 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Rosemary Jean Mendenhall, 88, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:50 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her residence. Born March 15, 1928 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of the late Homer Crispen and Maude (Zeigler) Crispen. On September 18, 1961 she married Warren L. Mendenhall, and he survives. She was employed with Delco Electronics, retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and U.A.W. Local #292.

Survivors include her husband of over 54 years, Warren L. Mendenhall of Kokomo; one son Gary Boyd (Jane Ann) Mendenhall of Kokomo; two sisters Norma Stewart of Tipton and Betty Miller of Kokomo; one grandson Jonathan Warren Mendenhall; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Wayne Crispen and Loren Crispen; also two sisters Doris Kull and Helen Soblotne.

Earl F. Harrell

Earl F. Harrell, 74, of Kokomo, passed away at 2:34 pm on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born on March 27, 1942, in Knoxville, Tennessee to James and June (Monday) Harrell.

Earl was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed gardening, his dogs (Skeeter and Bogo), and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Barbara J. McIntire

Barbara (Barb) Jo McIntire, 59, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord May 21, 2016, at Aperion in Kokomo, IN surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 4, 1956, to Jerry McIntire and Betty JoAnn (Graves) Mavrick.

Barb graduated from Kokomo High School in 1974. After high school, Barb went into childcare. She enjoyed baking, reading, gardening, playing euchre with her friends, spending time with her family and beloved grandchildren Kenny and Lilly Jo.

In 1979, Barb met Johnna Stansberry, her life partner, who survives. Barb is preceded in death by her mother Betty JoAnn Mavrick, fathers Jerry McIntire (biological); James C. Mavrick (adoptive), sister Pam Barber, brother David Mavrick, nephew Chad Barber, Kenneth and Michael Stansberry.

Barb is survived by her son Jamie McIntire, daughter-in-law Andrea McIntire, her brothers Rusty (Tina) McIntire. Chris (Missy) Mavrick, and Jason (Kelly) Mavrick. She is also survived her many nieces and nephews and grandchildren: Zane, Robert, and Josh Barber, Jordan Martin, Candice, Hayley, Elizabeth, Lucy, Molly, Levi, Charlie Mavrick, and Hannah Stansberry.

Barb was very close to everyone in Johnna’s family. She is survived by Johnna’s mother Joyce, sisters Jennifer Stansberry; Kathleen (Jim) James, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard. L. Terrell

Richard L. Terrell, 73, of Russiaville passed away at 9:12 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home. He was born in Kokomo on June 4, 1942 to Joseph Eugene Terrell and Betty Jane (Sandy) Catron. Richard was married to Kitty and she passed away in 1991.

Richard was a 1960 Kokomo High School graduate and served in the United States Army. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years. Richard had a passion for racing and spent countless hours at the Kokomo Speedway preparing the track and grounds for the races, and helped at Gas City Speedway.

Survivors include his son Tim Terrell of Kokomo; step daughter Kim (Mark) Ebert of Elwood; brother Steve (Mariann) Terrell of Kokomo; step brother Jim Catron of FL; step sister Rita Timberman of FL; three grandchildren Ruby and Mia Terrell of Kokomo, Jake Ebert of Elwood .

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Eugene (Ellen) and Betty Jane (Ray) Catron; wife Kitty Terrell.

Jerry L. Keck

Jerry L. Keck, 69, Kokomo, passed away at 4:51 pm on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born November 13, 1946 in Kokomo to Tyson O. and Pearline R. (Ross) Keck.

Growing up in Louisiana, Jerry was a tugboat captain as well as an oil rig worker. Once he returned to Indiana, Jerry was employed with Steel Parts in Tipton as an electrician. He also loved music and enjoyed playing guitar.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Deborah (David) Rayls, Kokomo, and half-sister, Darlene (Michael) Bright, Garland, TX, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn McCartney.

Copeland-Ousely

Orinne (Davis) Copeland-Ousely, 72, formerly of Kokomo passed away May 31, 2016 at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born on July 7, 1943 in Kokomo, IN to Dode and Otella (Everheart) Stout. Orinne was a graduate of Western High School. She retired from Delco Electronics in the 1990’s. After her retirement, Orinne devoted much of her time to loving and caring for her family.

Orinne is survived by her husband, Tom “LT” Ousley; daughters: Brenda (husband Michael) Moore of New London, WI and Michelle Shoaf of Kokomo; brothers: Garfield Davis of Yulee, FL, Tom “Glenn” and Dode Davis, both of Kokomo; sisters: Bonnie Sullivan of Galveston, IN, Nell Badgley of Peru, IN, Mary Jane Stillwell of Frankfort, IN; grandchildren: Samuel and Michaela Moore; Saraya Shoaf, Chance Copeland, Collin and Colton Shoaf; great grandchildren: Brenden, Bryson and Braylen Shoaf, Thomas Copeland.

James E.

Powell Jr.

James E. Powell Jr., of Kokomo, passed away on Friday May 27, 2016. James was born on June 10, 1940 to the late James E. Powell Sr. and Inez Kother. James is survived by his daughter, Jamie Baker; brother John Powell; sisters Jane Travnicek and Janet Sutton; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. James worked for many years for Monon Trailor Corporation. He enjoyed collecting classic Nascar cars and talking about trucks, as he drove one for most of his career.

Patty L. Yaste

Patty Lou Yaste, 78, Noblesville, and formerly of Cape Coral, FL, passed away May 28, 2016. She was born on September 4, 1937 in Muncie, IN, the daughter of George and Inez Cole. Patty received a teaching degree from Ball State University, as well as earning her Master’s degree from Indiana University. Patty was a math and science teacher, and taught school for many years in Edinburgh, IN. While living in Cape Coral, Patty taught at several local schools and also worked for Publix supermarkets. She loved traveling, taking cruises, bowling, and was a talented seamstress. Patty is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Yaste. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Craig Edling, Evansville, IN, her sons-and daughters-in-law, David and Anne Yaste, Noblesville, IN, Jon and Missy Yaste, Greenwood, IN, and her son, Brett Yaste, Fort Myers, FL. Patty is also survived by her grandchildren, Steven Edling, Damian Edling, Phillip Edling, Abigail Yaste, Brianna Hettinger, Megan Yaste, Morgan Yaste and Troy Yaste; her great-grandchildren, Brianna Edling, Smith Edling, and Ollie Edling; her niece, Judy Barnes; and her faithful canine companion, “Adrey”.
