OBITUARIES

Roberta Anderson

Roberta Lou (Clem) Harlan Anderson, 83, died October 18, 2016 at her home near Kokomo. Born June 28, 1933 in Cutler, Indiana, she was the daughter of Fred and Mary M. (Sandifur) Clem. She married Francis Eugene “Frank” Harlan on September 12, 1957, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1962. She married William C. Anderson on July 2, 1971, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1996.

She was a 1951 graduate of Cutler High School. She received training as an x-ray technician at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where she worked for several years. She also worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. In 1965 Roberta was appointed Postmaster at the Bringhurst Post Office where she served until her retirement in 1992 She lived most of her life in Carroll and Miami counties. Roberta was active in the Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo, and its Tuesday morning Bible study class. Her hobbies included searching for antiques and collectibles at flea markets and researching genealogy records. She and her husband also operated a rock/gem shop for many years.

Surviving are one son, Brian J. Harlan (wife Carolyn) of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Mary Harlan Silvey (husband Travis) of Carmel, Amy Harlan of Sunnyvale, CA, and Mark Harlan of Hudson, MA; a brother, James J. “Jack” Clem (wife Norma) of Bunker Hill; a sister, Barbara Thompson (husband James) of Lafayette; a sister-in-law, Carol Clem of Fort Myers, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was a “caregiver” and a very devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by four brothers, M. E. “Pat” Wallace, Frederic “Junior” Clem, David Clem and Donald Clem. William M. Sholty

William “Bill” M. Sholty, 70, of Kokomo went to be with the Lord on October 26th, 2016

He was born on June 2nd, 1946 in Logansport, IN to his parents John and Kathryn (Byers) Sholty.

He was preceded in death by his father John Sholty, brother John “Johnny” Sholty, son William Coty Sholty, and grandson Brandon Rairigh.

He is survived by his mother Kathryn (Byers) Sholty, wife Connie (Magill) Sholty, daughter Denise (Jim) Rairigh, sons Dustin (Amber) Sholty and Jared (Kacie) Sholty; brothers Terry (Susie) Sholty and Daniel “Danny” Sholty, sister Nyla Kay Webster; grandchildren Kayla Kelley, Tayler Rairigh, Gabby Sholty, William Sholty, Alexis Sholty, and Mayson Sholty; great granddaughter Braelynn Rairigh.

Bill was a loving family man who enjoyed being outdoors camping and fishing with his family. He was also a graduate of 1964 North Miami High School and recently had a class reunion.

He enjoyed vegetable gardening with his family and as a younger man he loved flying airplanes and skydiving. Socializing with his customers over his twenty-eight year career with Expert Transmissions and in the final three years with Dan Young in Tipton lead to great stories and friendships. During his automotive career he also was honored to teach students on building transmissions at Ivy Tech Community College.

As a longtime member of Main Street United Methodist Church he grew his faith and love for the Lord. He will always be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather in which they were his greatest joys in life.

Jarrel A. Ferren, 67 of Kokomo passed October 28th, 2016

Jarrel loved spending time with his family who he loved dearly. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, playing cards, watching golf and football. He was also known to enjoy playing xbox and playstation with his family.

James Winegar

James “Jim” Winegar Jr, 66, Kempton, passed away at 12:15pm Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home. He was born September 25, 1950 in Hawkins County, Tennessee a son of James and Essie Lee (Newman) Winegar Sr. on July 1, 1978 he married Brenda Walker in Kempton, IN and she survives.

A 1970 Tipton High School graduate, Jim went on to serve in the United States Army. Following his service to his country, he was employed by Chrysler Corp retiring in 2006 after 32 years of service. Jim had a passion for working on vehicles and collecting classic cars. He also enjoyed splitting wood, NASCAR races, car shows, and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, especially softball. Jim was a people person who will be remembered for his love of life and laughter; most of all he cherished time spend with family and friends especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Winegar; children, J.R. (Annie) Winegar and Kacee (Kenny) Sullivan; grandchildren, Gracie Sullivan, Briley Sullivan and J.P. Winegar; sisters, Iris (Bill) Armstrong and Doris Manis; brother, Donnie Gibbs; step brother and sister, Jim Jeffery and Karen Kay; as well as special friends, Jerry Raver, Pokey Clippard and many more.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Winegar Sr; mother, Essie Wyant; and step-father, Charles Raymond “Ray” Wyant; as well as sisters, Joyce Looney and Lois Phillips.

Wogerman

Elizabeth “Libby” Wogerman, age 74, passed into heaven on October 31, at 11:10 a.m., while resting at home. Born July 17, 1942, in Kenver, Kentucky, she was the daughter of J. Carl and Ethel M. (Ward) Sharp. She married Fred Wogerman, Sr. on July 25, 1998, and he survives.

She retired from Delco after 28 years of service. She attended and was a member of Family Worship Center in Kokomo. She found her strength and love in God’s words. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

After retirement, her love of children brought her to Crossroads Learning Corner, loving every day of her twelve years until her health forced her to leave.

In addition to her husband, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Angie Stephenson; granddaughter, Erika Stephenson, all of Frankfort; step-children, Carla Jones, of Oklahoma, Steve Atkins, of Kokomo, Pat and Andy Seller, of Frankfort, Fred Wogerman, Jr., and Emily, of Kokomo, and Frances Tate, of Kokomo; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, John and Sharon Sharp, of Sharpsville, Doug and Jan Sharp, of Kokomo, and Rev. Allen and Terri Sharp, of Lafayette; sister, Maggie (Diaz) Dewitt and Richard L., of Kokomo; and lots of nieces and nephews that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, James Dennis Sharp; sister, Shirley Peace; and special uncle, Andy Sharp.

Jean A. Tackett

Jean Alice Tackett, 76, Russiaville, passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born June 1, 1940, in Russiaville, to Ralph and Lavene (Zerby) Colwell. On March 19, 1966, she married Paul Tackett, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2015.

Jean graduated from Western High School in 1958 and worked for the in the administration office of the Kokomo School Corporation until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of Russiaville Main Street Christian Church and was also a volunteer at Community Howard Regional Health.

She is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Cathy) Tackett, Russiaville; one granddaughter, Callie Tackett; three sisters, Martha (Kent) Milburn, Marilyn (Jim) Soblotne and Sue Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

Lori L. Rogers

Lori Lynn Rogers passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2016, at St. Vincent, Kokomo. She was born to Grady and Patricia Rogers on Feb. 12, 1963, in Kokomo.

Lori had a very special life being involved in the Special Olympics several times and the Dance Club, where she was the Honorary Queen. She was also part of the Bona Vista Work Shop. She attended Washington School and graduated with her class. Lori truly loved her family and those special “babies” of hers. Christmas was very special to her, as well as the love she had for music.

Lori is survived by mother and stepfather, Patricia and Bill (Looker)Harlan; sisters, Lucindia (Gregory) Carie, Chrystal (Kirk) Ayres; brothers, Grady Brian (Brenda) Rogers and Randy Rogers; and seven nephews, six nieces and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father Grady, niece Capri Racheal Ayers and several aunts and uncles.

Hazel L. Shuck

Hazel Lou (Austin) Shuck, 87, of Sharpsville, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born on March 22, 1929, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Floyd Schuler and Thelma (Bean) Austin. On July 4, 1947, Hazel married John Newton Shuck, and he passed away on May 28, 2015.

Hazel was a member and past president of the Tipton County Home Economics, president of the Tri-Add Club, secretary of a bowling league, pitched horse shoes, was a doll maker, seamstress, crafter, self-taught upholsterer and loved to write stories. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church and Phi Beta Psi.

Survivors include sons, Roger Dale (Susan) Shuck, Justin Lavon (Marilyn) Shuck, Keith Allen (Kelly) Shuck and Harry Isaac (Patricia) Shuck; daughter, Laura Ann (Edward) Off; grandchildren, Theresa (Brian) Offutt, Yvonne (Scott) Schaefer, Jennifer (Bill) Joseph, Denny Reed, Natosha (Matt) Woods, Jonathan (Elaine) Off and Kelsey Shuck; step-grandchildren, John (Wendi) Wilson, Jeannie (Eli) Boles, Jeremy Hostetler and Sean (Crystal) Hostetler; great-grandchildren, Brittany Burkett, Seaira Burkett, Kassandra Burkett, Zacharie Schaefer, Alexandria Schaefer, Caleb Shuck, Mikell Reed, Ian Woods, Hannah Woods, Camden Woods and Weston Off; step-great-grandchildren, Ben Offutt, Scott Offutt, Megan Wilson, Depree Gaither, Jordan Gaither, Lexie Gaither and Hailey Chambers; great-great-grandchildren, Emma Walker, Adaline Burkett, Elijah Burkett, Eden Davis and Damion Torres; and step-great-great-grandchild, Kaleigh Offutt.

In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Thelma Austin; daughter, Patricia Elaine Reed; and sister, Helen Ester Austin.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Bill Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Carolyn S. Parker

Carolyn Sue (DeWeese) Parker, 85, Forest, passed away at her daughter’s home in Zionsville, Indiana on Oct. 31, 2016. She was born in Russiaville on Feb. 17, 1931 to Eula Brown and John DeWeese. She lived in Forest, Indiana, until recently when she moved to Zionsville to be cared for by her daughter Lori Dukes. She married Richard M. Parker on June 11, 1949 in Richmond, Indiana and he passed away November 22, 2006. Together they had 6 Children and 3 survive: Michael Parker, Daniel Parker, Lori Dukes and Carolyn had 5 surviving siblings: Gloria Young, Marilyn Haack, Rex DeWeese, Marlene (Kay) Berry and Connie Moss. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard M. Parker, 3 children Linda Kendall, Kevin Parker, Phil Parker; 2 sisters Sharon Inman and Roma Heaton; 1 brother Billy DeWeese. Carolyn (Sue) was a homemaker and she was very proud of her home. Carolyn had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a unique talent for writing songs and poetry. Carolyn and her sister Marilyn were once able to make a record of the songs they sang. Family was very important to Carolyn. Rosie E. Parvin

Rosie Eileen Parvin, 83, Russiaville, IN, formerly of Rogersville, TN passed away at 8:25p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Community Regional Health surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 21, 1933 to Theodore (Lud) and Annie (Ball) Burns in Rogersville, TN. On March 29, 1949 she married Henry Joseph (Jay) Parvin. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1996.

She attended Abundant Life Church in Oakford, IN and HoneyCreek Baptist Church in Russiaville, IN.

She was a housewife and together they raised ten (10) children. She loved all flowers , gardening, gospel and country music and traveling. She had many friends who loved her dearly. She would feed and help anyone in need. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.

She is survived by four daughters, Joyce & George Laudenschlager of Burnet, TX, Lois & Ward Bowlby of Russiaville, IN, Virginia & Jeff Scott of Rogersville, TN, Nancy & Jimmy Arnold of Rogersville, TN.

Martha R. Sullivan

Martha R. Sullivan, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 8:41 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at her home. She was born August 4, 1934 in Jonesboro, IN to Lester and Glydas (Kiger) Kline. On April 7, 1956 she married Frank E. Sullivan who preceded her in death on April 11, 1995.

Martha retired from Delco Electronics where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, the Eagles, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling and collecting dolls. Most of all, Martha will be remembered as a kind, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished time spent with her family.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip (Sue) Sullivan and Chris (Cindy) Sullivan; grandsons, James Marshall (Nicole) Sullivan and Timothy Phillip (Hilary) Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Taylor Sullivan, Nicholas Sullivan, Peyton Sullivan, and Jordan Sullivan; as well as several nieces and nephews including Anita Apolo and Darrell Karns.

Vera B. Ferguson

Vera Beverly (Neighbors) Ferguson, 85, of Kokomo, went to her heavenly home on November 2nd , 2016.

She was born September 28th, 1931 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Julia and George Neighbors.

Vera enjoyed her work as the director of Six County Child Evangelism and as a teacher of Sunday school. She loved the Lord and delighted in sharing the word of Jesus.

She is survived by three sons Leslie (Sheryl) Johnson, Rex (Wanda) Johnson, and Larry Johnson; stepsons Jimmy (Joyce) Ferguson and John (Lisa) Ferguson; stepdaughter Lori (Petey) Stephens. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bart (Nicole) Irwin, Michelle Irwin, Tammy (Glenn) Smith, Billie (Raymond) Barker, Jessica (Desiree Conn) Bowker; great grandchildren Payton Irwin, Kylie Irwin, Bailey Smith, Kayla Smith, Emma Smith, Garrett Smith, and Jensen Barker.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents Julia and George Neighbors, her first husband Harvel Johnson, and her second husband James Ferguson.

Julie A. Cain

Julie Anne Cain, 36, of Sweetser, went to be with Jesus with a smile on her face at her parents’ home with her family surrounding her at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

She was born in Marion, IN on May 15, 1980 to Sid and Betty (Cook) Richey.

She married her grade school friend, then best friend and love of her life, Nicholas B. Cain, on September 11, 2004, and together they had two beautiful sons, Ethan and Evan. All 3 were the love of her life, and they survive.

She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1998 and went on to attend Purdue University and graduated from there with a Bachelor’s degree in 2002. Julie began working at First Farmer’s Bank and Trust in Converse, IN in 1997 in a School to Work program. After graduation from college, Julie continued her career at First Farmers in marketing and worked her way to Administration.

She asked Jesus into her heart at the tender age of 8. She was baptized and joined Liberty Baptist Church as a young girl. Through the years, Julie was involved in youth group and went on a mission trip to Mexico. As an adult, Julie worked in the AWANA program at church. For many years you would find her working with children, kindergarten through 2nd grade, teaching them Bible verses and praying with them. She will be greatly missed.

Julie loved and cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, including cruises, Disney World, and her time at Lake Webster with family and friends.

Anyone that knew Julie understood she was a loving, hardworking, strong young woman. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she never gave up and never once complained of the pain. She endured several surgeries and numerous types of treatment, but through all of this she refused to let cancer define her. She kept her faith in Jesus Christ, a positive attitude, and was an inspiration to others. She always put her Faith and Family first above all. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Rathi Mahendran and the staff at the Marion Cancer Care for all of their compassionate care.

In addition to Nic, her husband of 12 years, she will be missed by her two sons: Ethan Nicholas Cain and Evan Andrew Cain; Father and mother: Sid and Betty Richey; Sisters: Paula (Aaron) McMillan, Montpelier, Amy (Adam) Tohulka, Elkhart; Nieces and nephews: Matthew McMillan, Katelyn McMillan, Jonathan McMillan, David McMillan, Addison Tohulka and Ashlyn Tohulka; Father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bob and Tammy Bellinotti; Brother-in-law: Neno Bellinotti, and sister-in-law: Mary (Corey) Martinez.

Charles R. Smith

Charles Roger Smith, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 9:00 pm on Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 25, 1949, in Kokomo, the son of Charles E. & Louise (Mote) Smith. On March 3, 1995, he married Tereisa “Tina” Shock in Kokomo after a 10 year engagement. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2013.

Roger was a 1967 graduate of Kokomo High School. He retired from Chrysler on May 31, 2007 after 29 years of service. Roger enjoyed fishing, listening to country music, watching the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs, playing Poker and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Roger is survived by his children, Charles (Angie) Smith, Nathan Smith, Joshua (Heather) Smith, Chance (Shanda) Smith, Angela (David) Morris, Laura (James) Jackson, and Amanda (Randy) Burkett; his mother, Louise Evans; the mother of his boys, Cindy L. Smith, along with 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Martha E. Girton

Martha E. (Boone) Girton, 99, Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Kokomo. She was born on February 22, 1917, in Cass County, the daughter of the late Albert & Goldie (York) Boone.

Martha was a graduate of Clay township High School. She also graduated from South Bend Beauty School and the Kokomo School of Nursing. Martha owned and operated a beauty shop in Peru for several years. After she moved to Kokomo, she worked for St. Joseph Hospital as an LPN nurse for 16 years. Martha was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Martha is survived by her son, Larry Fager and his wife, Erin, Hendersonville, TN; two granddaughters, Laura Whitley, Gallatin, TN, and Tanya Boswell and her husband Cecil, Hendersonville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Trey and Faith, Hendersonville, TN, along with five nephews and four nieces.

Robert W. Thornton

Robert Wayne “Tex” Thornton, 87, Forest, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born September 24, 1929, in Quanah, Texas, to Willie Leo and Flora (Dennis) Thornton. On May 31, 1959, he married Sue Milner, and she survives.

Tex graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas in 1946 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He worked for Huston Electric for 32 years before retiring in 1993. Prior to moving to Kokomo he also traveled for the Telegraph Company for three years. He was an avid bass fisherman and a knife maker and collector. He enjoyed watching all sports and was drafted by the Washington Senators as their pitcher in 1950. He opened the first bowling pro shop at Cedar Crest Lanes and was inducted into the Kokomo Bowling Hall of Fame in 1990. He was also an inductee into the Indiana State Bowling Hall of Fame in March 2006. He was an active member of the Kokomo Bowling Association, 50 years with The American Legion Post 6 and a lifelong member of the I.B.E.W. Tex was also a member of B.A.S.S. since its inception and invited to the first B.A.S.S Masters tournament.

In addition to his wife, Sue Thornton, he is survived by his daughters, Nancy(Jim) Feasel, and Betsy Thornton; nieces, Rebecca(Loren) Curry, Pam (Clarence Vlasic) Wakeman, Jennifer (Simon) Ladd, Marla (Kirk) Caldwell, and Darlene (Jim) Hensley; nephews, John(Bunny) Wakeman, Robert (Peg) Wakeman, and J.J.Thornton; brother-in-law, Jerry Milner; sister-in-law, Eleanor Wakeman; and multiple cousins and bowling friends.

David Gene Meagher, 85, of Michigantown, passed away at 9:05 am on the beautiful sunny day of Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at his home with his family at his side. David peacefully went home to be with his heavenly father. David was born, in Crawfordsville, on July 7, 1931 to William and Mae (Barkely) Meagher, both preceded him in death. David married Phyllis Ann Ballard, who survives, on July 3, 1953. Their love for each other was pure and endless.

Through their love, God blessed them with seven children, Richard Calvin Meagher, deceased and now resting in his Daddy’s arms, Christopher Alan (Martina) Meagher, of Michigantown, Kathy Denise (Frank) Williams, of Michigantown, Michael Wayne Meagher, Lori Ann Meagher, of Michigantown, Linda Kay (William) Kellogg, of Hartford City, and Lisa Marie (John) Oppelt, of Frankfort; thirteen grandchildren, Cory, Shannon, Eric, Brian, Frankie, Jeremiah, Tiffany, Matthew, Stephanie, Ryan, Lauren, CJ and Kailyn; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great grandchild, Jarrod, preceded him in death. Also surviving are one sister, Dorothy Dodds, of Crawfordsville and one brother, Merle (Sara) Meagher of Las Vegas, NV. David was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

David was an avid Mopar man as he retired from Kokomo Chrysler Transmission Plant. There was nothing David could not make or repair in his metal and wood shop. David was a godly man of integrity, although his younger life was not easy, he made sure his wife and children never endured any hardships. He kept his wife on a pedestal never allowing her to pump gas or mow the yard. His family will forever be grateful and blessed to have David in their lives. At his side his wife and children anointed him, prayed and returned him to our Lord until they meet again.

Larry E. Bradley Sr.

Larry E. Bradley Sr., 71, Kokomo, passed away at 7:30 pm on Monday, October 31, 2016, at his home. He was born on January 18, 1945, in Tipton, the son of Lawrence and Ethel Jane (Purvis) Bradley. On May 17, 1968, he married Anna Lou Rawls who preceded him in death on September 13, 2014.

Larry was owner and operator of Bradley & Son Remodeling & Roofing Company. He enjoyed playing pool at the Senior Center and fishing.

He is survived by his sons, Tim Spencer and Jason (Amber) Bradley, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nancy C. Stevenson, 83, Frankfort, passed away at 9:50 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Clinton House Health and Rehab in Frankfort. She was born on June 29, 1933, in Claiborne County, TN, the daughter of Charlie & Lottie (Day) Shiflet. In January of 1957 she married Raymond Stevenson who preceded her in death in July of 1993.

Nancy was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, animals, especially cats, and pitching horseshoes. She also enjoyed playing euchre, rummy, and watching game shows on the television.

Nancy is survived by her children, Debra Sue Durborow, Frankfort, Danny Ray (Sandra) Stevenson, Frankfort, and Roger Dale Stevenson, Michigantown; grandchildren, Angela (Chad) Colby, Cacy (Icena) Durborow, Aaron Durborow, Bryce (Kelsie) Stevenson, Danielle Fish, and Paige Stevenson (Fiancé Richard Ruth), along with 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Shiflet, Clarksville, TN.

Rose G. Kidwell

Rose Gertrude Kidwell passed away on Saturday November 5th at 7:39 a.m. at her home, surrounded by her family. Rose was born to Rufus and Maria Wiles on May 30, 1923 in Willoughby, Ohio.

Rose married her husband, Raymond E. Kidwell in Painesville, Ohio on November 11, 1945. He preceded her in death shortly after celebrating 70 years of marriage.

In support of the war efforts, she was Rosie the Riveter in WWII, making parachutes at Rayon, and a crane operator at Chase Brass and Copper. While working at Chase Brass, Rose met her beloved Raymond. Rose worked in the cafeteria at Ohio Rubber for 15 years. After that, Rose enjoyed baking fancy pastries, crocheting, and shopping. She was an incredible woman of faith, reading her Bible daily and praying for her family. She loved to write poetry. She also very much loved talking with her great-grandsons- they loved to throw parties.She loved when her sunshine walked in. She loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Ray (Rebecca) Kidwell; grandchildren Ashleigh (Robert) Ledford and great-grandsons Caleb Robert Ledford and Joshua Ray Ledford; Megan (Gary Jr.) Adkins and 8 great-grandpets; 1 brother-in-law Marcus Delbert Kidwell; and many nieces and nephews.

James Rossman

James Rossman, 62, passed away on Sunday, October 30 at his home. James was born in Kokomo to Paul and Frances Rossman on November 11, 1953.

James married his wife, Pat (Baldwin) Rossman on December 16, 1972. He owned and operated Rossman Home Improvement for eight years.

James loved to fish, hunt, and work on vehicles in his garage. He loved to cook out on the grill and sit by an evening fire with family and friends. James also loved to spend time with his grandkids. He enjoyed visiting Lukens Lake and going out to eat with his wife, Pat.

James is survived by his wife, Pat; children James(Kristi), Chris (Jamie), and Jeremy Rossman; grandchildren James Jr., Austin, and Matthew Rossman, Marlena Rude, Lily, Payton, Gage, Breeann, and Abegail Rossman; and great-grandson Brantley Rossman.

S. Shoemaker

Ranoma Siler Shoemaker, 94 of Kokomo went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to claim her mansion, her reward as a good and faithful servant on November 2nd, 2016

With the given name Calla Ranoma Siler she was born to Wesley Jesse Siler and Margaret Ann Patton Siler May 5th, 1922.

Ranoma attended a few different churches after being born again by accepting Jesus 42 years ago. In 1951 she married George John Shoemaker who preceded her in death. Ranoma was employed at Dietzens Bakery for many years. After retirement she filled her time with church activities, visiting those in need, working out at Body Unlimited and started taking karate lessons at 79 years old with her son George, receiving her green belt, before having to give it up due to a hip replacement at age 84.

Ranoma is survived by two sons George (Candy) Shoemaker and Joe (Chris) Shoemaker both of Kokomo; daughter Kim (Greg) Stahl of Russiaville; brother Russell (Carole) Siler of Frankfort, KY; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Scott (Katherine) Siler of Kokomo, Joseph (Mary) Siler of New Orleans David Siler of Kokomo, daughter Tonji Cain, and three sisters Malinda Siler Hudson, Margo (Frank) Rubow and Madgeline Siler who passed shortly after birth.

Elma R. Harner

Elma Rose “Tootie” (Aaron) Harner, 82, of Kokomo passed away on October 28, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Kokomo Hospital. Tootie was born on November 27, 1933 in Kokomo to William and Helen Marie (Deweise) Aaron. She had been an employee of Mechanics Laundry. In her spare time, Tootie enjoyed bowling, camping, and cooking good food for her family and friends to eat.

Tootie is survived by her sons: Tony (Michelle) Harner of Kokomo, David (Angie) Bline of Kokomo, daughters: Deborah Langley, Dixie (Steve) Hicks, and Sue Bline, all of Kokomo, brothers: James (Barbara) and Norman Aaron, both of Kokomo, sister, June K. Hobbs of Kentucky, grandchildren: Doug, Christy, Richie, Laura, Trina, Heidi, Travis, Stacie, Angel and T.J., Steve and Amy, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. Elma was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Dave Bline and Tony Harner, fiance’ Bill Binkley, sons: William and Doug Bline, granddaughter, Summer Rose; 5 brothers, 1 sister.

Phyllis A. Allen

Phyllis A. (Stafford) Allen, 83, passed away on October 27, 2016 at Kindred Transitional Care in Kokomo. Phyllis was born in Kokomo on November 2, 1932 to Wilber William and Thelma (Stephens) Allen. She married Thomas Eugene Allen on July 1, 1966. Phyllis was a homemaker, and a member of the Corner Stone Church.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Greg Davis of Shallotte, NC; sister, Norma Shaffer of Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her: parents; husband, Thomas; brother, Robert Stafford.

Richard L. Tyler

Richard Lee Tyler, 72, of Kokomo went home to be with the Lord on November 6th, 2016

Richard was born April 8th, 1944 in Kokomo to his parents Charles Tyler and Virginia (Sease) Riley

Richard is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Sue (McDonald) Tyler, daughter Tina (Victor) Ramirez, grandchildren Tiffany Sharrow, Josiah (Jennifer) Ramirez, Jacob Ramirez, great granddaughter Faith Ramirez; brother’s Charles (Betty) Tyler, David (Sharon) Tyler, Danny Tyler, Greg Riley; sister Martha (Tim) Mcfarland.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Charles Tyler and Virginia (Garnet) Riley; sister Patricia Pratt.

He graduated Kokomo High School in 1963 in which during his senior year he began working at Milbank Manufacturing and later was promoted to Plant Manager. On March 27th, 1965 he married his loving wife Carolyn Sue (McDonald) Tyler. He enjoyed automotive tools, restoring older cars and even completed a 1965 Ford Fairlane convertible for his daughter Tina.

He was a man of few words but was always known as a man of integrity and honesty. He had a dry sense of humor that was loved by many but most importantly his family who will miss him dearly.

Ella M. Keck

Ella Mae Keck, 92 of Kokomo, IN passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2016

Ella was born in Luttrell, TN to her late parents Hobart and Lallie (Donahue) Kitts.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emery Keck, daughter Kemah Keck, son Ben Farmer, and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Faust of Wabash, IN; Carolyn Butcher of Kokomo, IN; sister’s Ethyl Hankins of Kokomo, IN and Ruby Wyrick of Corryton, TN; 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren whom she loved all dearly.

Through her life she enjoyed serving the communities she lived and worked in. With multiple entrepreneur endeavors with Fashion 220, Upholstery, Ceramics, and quilting to name a few. She will always be remembered for her loving and caring generosity she showed to anyone she met. No matter how busy she was her greatest love in life was her family and making Deer jerky for her grandchildren.

Gary M. Ertel

Gary M. Ertel, 67 of Tipton died at 10:28 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Premier Healthcare of Sheridan. He also lived in Greenfield, Indiana for 26 years before returning to Tipton for the past three years. Gary was born in Tipton on April 29, 1949 to Mark Anthony & Helen Bernice (Rayls) Ertel.

He was an Indiana University graduate and a member of the Tipton Bowling League. Gary managed several restaurants before retiring in 2009. He loved to spend time fishing and hanging out with all his grandchildren. Gary attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Beth Robertson and husband Jason, Hillsboro, Kentucky, Amy Grant and husband Jason, Russiaville, Indiana, Amanda Whann and husband Travis, Indianapolis; a sister, Mary Ann Bennett and husband Ron, Riverton, Utah; eight grandchildren, Elayna Arthur, Lucas Grant, Taylor Whann, Tori Grant, Austin Robertson, Sophia Whann, Mark Whann, Harper Robertson. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Sue Ertel, along with two grandchildren, Russell and Eric Whann.

M. Wininger

Kathaleen “Kathy” Mae (Morris) Wininger 95, Kokomo passed away at her residence with family at bedside on Friday November 4, 2016 at 3:50 AM. Born June 30, 1921 in Collinwood, TN daughter of Jesse and Lula (Fraley) Morris. Kathy had one brother, William “Bill” Morris. Kathy married John Henry Wininger on August 20, 1939. Together they had four children: Jerry L. Wininger Sr. , Judith A. Hite, John M. Wininger, and Sandra J. (Wininger) Murphy. Kathy loved to craft plastic canvas, play Bingo, and go to the Casino’s. She worked at the Galveston Post Office for 12 ½ yrs. Kathy then went on to be a cook at Grissom Airforce Base for another 12 ½ yrs. She retired at the age of 58 yrs. Survivors include: daughter Joan (Sandra) Murphy Kokomo, 11 grandchildren, Terry (Denise) Murphy, Georganna (Larry) King, Cathy (Brian) May, Ashley Melton, Devonya LeAnn (Doug) Collins-Shuck, Rick (Misty) Wininger, Jerry L. (Christina) Wininger Jr., Ron Wininger, John (Missy) Wininger, David Hite, and Melissa (Michael) Pagley. 15 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, two sons, one daughter, and one great grandson. Kathy’s caretakers were daughter Joan Murphy, Daughter-in- Law Sharon Wininger, with the help of Grand Daughter’s Melissa Pagley, Ashley Melton, Cathy May, and Georganna King.

James R. Fox

James R. Fox, 87 of Anderson died at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence. He had also lived in Tipton, Cape Coral, Florida, and Monticello, Indiana. James was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 22, 1929 to Francis L. & Charlotte H. (Mullarkey) Fox. On July 29, 1950 he married Martha Goodnight at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and she survives.

Jim was a self-employed well driller. He had also worked at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo and was a school bus driver before retiring in 1980. Jim had operated three gas stations in Anderson over the years. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1947. James was currently a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson and had previously been a member of both Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Richard L. Fox and wife Debbie, New Palestine, Indiana, Dr. Thomas Fox and wife Sandra, Columbus, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jason Fox and wife Laura, Brooke Anderson and husband Trent, Shawn Fox and wife Katelyn, Lindsey Hahn and husband Zach. Jim is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Beau Braun, Tommy Braun, Kamden Hahn, Jaxon Fox, Nora Fox, Ben Anderson and Sam Anderson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis E. Fox and Fredrick Fox and one sister, Monica Mehling.

Victor E. Porter

Victor E. Porter, 57 of Windfall died on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Indianapolis. He was born in Tipton on March 9, 1959 to Franklin Delano & JoAnne Marie (DeLaVergne) Porter. He married Dee Ann Planalp on September 24, 1988 and she survives. He currently was a much-loved and respected paleontologist at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Victor graduated from Tri-Central High School in 1978. He was the former general manager at J. Lewis Small Company in Elwood; was a former well driller and plumber at Porter Drilling Company and a self employed jeweler for 40 years. He volunteered at the Indiana State Museum since 1985 and participated on many mastodon and mammoth digs in Indiana. Victor worked on Peccary Cave digs for 30 years and volunteered with Black Hills Institute of Geological Research on numerous dinosaur and fossil digs since 1987 as a self-taught paleontologist. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Past Master and belonged to the Scottish Rite. Victor loved his museum work and his family.

Through the years Victor’s illness required him to have three kidney transplants which he received through gifts from his brother, sister-in-law and daughter.

Survivors, besides his wife Dee Ann, include his parents of Windfall, one daughter Victoria Porter and husband Clayton Smith, Indianapolis, one son, Alexander Porter at home, one brother, Virgil “Bud” Franklin Porter and wife JeanaMarie, Sharpsville, one sister, Lisa Jewell Clark and husband Andy, Windfall; his mother-in-law, Helen Planalp, Tipton and a large extended family.

William

R. Simpson

William R. Simpson, 71, passed away on October 12, 2016 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Bill was born on July 14, 1945 in Marianna, FL to George R. and Georgia M. (Ford) Simpson. Bill was a graduate of Ball State University, on a track scholarship, where he majored in Art with a minor in Physical Education. He was a managing partner of Simpson Enterprises.

On June 4, 1977, Bill married Frances F. (Allen) Simpson. Bill was devoted to Grace United Methodist Church, where he served as Head Usher, had served as a Chair of the Education Committee, was Past President of Grace United Methodist Men (UMM), and had sung in the Altar Choir. In addition to his devotion to the church, Bill had been very active in the Boy Scouts of America with his son, where he had served as Scout Master, and Assistant Scout Master to Troop 581. Bill completed his Wood Badge in 1995. While working with the scouts Bill, was selected to receive the following honors of: serving as Scout Master for the National Jamboree in 1997, and the Silver Beaver Award, one of the highest honors bestowed upon an adult leader. Also during his time with the scouts, Bill served many years as the “Kernel” for the Annual Pop Corn Fundraiser. He was also active in coaching at the YMCA and UCT. He had also served on the Pit Crew for the Kokomo Marching Wildkats when his son was marching. Bill was also a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. Bill was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed golf, watching football, basketball and racing, as well as serving as pit crew for his brother-in-law and nephew when they raced motorcycles, and attending car shows.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Frances, son, Royce Allen Simpson of Kokomo, mother Georgia Simpson of Galveston, brother-in-law Floyd E. (Denise S.) Allen of Rochester, MI, sister, Anita Gwenn (Sunil) Atri, nephew, Scott E. (Jennifer A.) Allen of Birmingham, MI, nephews, Nathan A. (Haley) and Gregory C. (Sybil) Simpson, Joseph J. and Jon J. Carlo, niece, Michelle R. Simpson, great nephew, Michael A. Allen of London, Ontario, and great niece, Jane D. Allen of Grand Rapids, MI. Bill was preceded in death by his in-laws, Russell C. and Lydia A. Allen, his brother Teddy L. Simpson, and his father.
