OBITUARIES
Dorothy L. Renie
Dorothy L. Renie, 94, an eight year resident of Hendricks County, having formerly resided in Sharpsville and Kokomo, died August 1, 2016 at Park Square Manor in Avon, Indiana. She was born March 16, 1922, in Kokomo, the daughter of Irvin P. and Nellie (DeBon) Ford. She married Joseph C. Renie August 23, 1947, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death December 18, 2009.
Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of Kokomo High School. After graduation, Dorothy was an Executive Secretary to John Frederick, of the Dirilyte Corporation and held other secretarial positions at: Luntz Iron, the Stellite Company and Joe Noel, atty. She also worked at Roger W. Briney Jewelers.
Her love of church and family was of utmost importance. She will be remembered for her beautiful flowers and her musical talent. She was a gifted soprano who blessed the Kokomo and Tipton communities with her talent and leadership, having served the Kokomo Civic Choral Society and Kokomo Community Concerts as both a member and as an officer, St. Patrick Catholic Church Choir, and the music sorority, Sigma Eta. She was well-known for her solo performance in the annual production of The Messiah for many years.
Surviving are a son, Joseph W. Renie of Indianapolis; three daughters, Martha Welch (Thomas) of Avon, Frances Maryanski (Jeffery) of Carmel and Margaret Amo (Joe) of Belfair, WA; five grandchildren, Anne Young (Chris), Kelly Renie, Joseph W. Renie (Ashley), John Amo and Maureen Maryanski; four great-grandchildren, Theodore Young, James Young, Joseph Camden Renie and Cayden Renie; five sisters, Jeanette Prather of Greentown, Eleanor Buroker of Warren, Mary Katherine Rennaker (Paul) of Kokomo, Edith Vent of Kokomo and Shirley Ann Stockberger (Norman) of Carmel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Edward F. Ford and Robert C. Ford.

Melvin L. Beard
Melvin L. “Mel” Beard, 84, of Kokomo, entered his heavenly home at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital – Kokomo.
Melvin was born on December 12, 1931 in Frankfort to the late Ora “Doc” and Edna Mae Girt Beard. He married Barbara L. Cardwell on June 5, 1960 in Kempton and retired from AT&T after 34 ½ years of service. Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 serving on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War, he graduated from Frankfort High School in 1950, and was a member of Judson Road Christian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, the water, and was a fan of all I.U. sports. Melvin loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Beard; sons, Bart (Janie) Beard of Greenwood and Bret (Stephanie) Beard of Sharpsville; grandchildren, Jarred, Alan, Aaron, Brittany ( A.J.) Castor, Kaylee, and Ashlynn; great-grandchildren, Madi, Layla and one on the way due in December; brother, Russell C. Beard of Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Icle Beard, Beuford Beard and Harley Beard; and two sisters, Bonieta Stout and Lillian Vail.

Ruth A. York
Ruth Ann York Rojas, 62, Kokomo, passed away at 12:46 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born October 24, 1953, in Miami County, to Shelton and Martha (Robinson) York.
Ruth graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1972.
She is survived by one son, Alex Rojas, Pleasanton, California; her mother, Martha York, Kokomo; brothers, Darrell (Susann) York, Max York and Ronald (Kim) York, all of Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Shelton York; brother, John York; and sister, Marlene York.

Ellen L. Thompson
Ellen Leona (Luckey) Thompson, 52 of Miami, IN, passed away at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo after a long illness. Ellen was born on November 12, 1963 in Kokomo to Donald Lee and Nancy Luckey. She was a graduate of Haworth High School. On March 4, 1990, she married William “Bill” Thompson, he survives. Ellen was a Greeter at the Meijer Store for many years.
In addition to her husband, Ellen is survived by her son, William “Billy” Thompson of Miami; daughters, Sara (husband Geoff) Saulmon of Kokomo and Katie Thompson of Fort Wayne; brothers, Donald Luckey of West Middleton and David (wife Debbie) Luckey of Kokomo; sister, Marie (husband Leroy) Pearce of Kokomo; granddaughter, Kaylee Saulmon; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Starr Schwering and Donna Parsons. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Dee-Dee Luckey, and niece, Sherry Downs.
Norbert G. Gronow
Norbert G. Gronow, 82, was called home Thursday, August 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Norb was born December 28, 1933 to Norbert Sr. and Josephine K. (Singer) Gronow in Detroit, MI. His family moved to Kokomo, IN. in 1937, where he remained a resident for the rest of his life.
Norbert graduated from Kokomo High School in 1952, and later attended Ball State University. After enlisting in the U.S.M.C., Norb served his country in the Korean War.
He was employed with the Chrysler Corp. for 39 ½ years, retiring as an inspector.
Norb loved to work puzzles and collect old music albums. He was a brilliant cook, avid reader, and a master at wood working. Norb was on the Chrysler Bowling League and served as president of for more than 20 years. He always loved to spend time with friends and family on Lake Shaffer and traveling, Las Vegas was one of his favorite destinations.
Norbert held memberships at The Moose Lodge, The Elks Lodge, and The American Legion. He had attended Mt. Gilead Church in Hemlock, IN. for the last 20 years.

On April 29, 1961 Norb married the love of his life Marilyn Davis. Marilyn knew as soon as she met him, with his dark hair and blue eyes, he was the one for her. Through thick and thin the two had been side by side, hand in hand, for the past 55 years. Norb and Marilyn are lifelong Kokomo Wildkat fans, attending school sporting events throughout their years together. They sat in the same seats in Memorial Gym for over 60 years watching their Kats play basketball.
Left behind to cherish Norb’s memory are his wife and soulmate Marilyn. Sister, Sandy Roberson and her husband Charles. Nephews, Jeff Davis and Bill Irwin. Niece, Jo Marie Rocchio and her husband Tony. Great Niece, Ashley Robbins. Great Nephews, Alex Davis and Anthony Rocchio, Destin Irwin, and Sammy Irwin. Great Great Nephew, Oliver “Jimmy” Porter, and several cousins.

Patrick J. Simmons
Patrick J. “Pat” Simmons, 49, Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his daughter’s home in Lafayette. He was born on February 7, 1967, in Kokomo, the son of James & Helen (Macdonell) Simmons.
Pat was a 1985 graduate of Western High School. He was a welder with Wabash National for many years. Pat’s greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his children and his grandchildren, and going fishing. He also had a great love for music and enjoyed Stevie Ray Vaughan. Pat was a good man and father, and will be missed by many.
Pat is survived by his children, Cory (Ashaley) Davis, Camden, IN, Jenny Miller, Lafayette, IN, and Emily Simmons, Stockwell, IN; brothers, James (Michele) Simmons, Jacksonville, FL, Steve (Michelle) Simmons, Seattle, WA, and David Simmons, Kokomo; grandchildren, Zoey Miller, Brennan Fesler, Braden Fesler, and Veda Mellady.

Jaicento M. Griffith
Mr. Jaicento M. Griffith, 50, Kokomo, Indiana, transitioned from labor to reward on May 25, 2016 in Noblesville, Indiana.
Jaciento was born in Decatur, Alabama on March 23, 1966 to Louise Griffith.
Jai loved the Lord and was a member at Family Worship Center in Kokomo since 2004.
Jai graduated from Tanner High School in Tanner, Alabama in 1984. He furthered his education by attending Tennessee State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1993.
Jai started his career with Delphi Electronic Systems in 1993, working as an intern. Over his 23 years of service he held various positions as a Test Engineer, Process Engineer and Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
The two jobs Jai loved most were being a Father and a husband. Jai loved his family first and foremost. Family time and his children’s activities brought him the most joy. He married his High School sweetheart, Teresa Griffith in 1991. To this union they had two children, Brielle and Myles.
Those left to cherish his memory, loving wife, Teresa Bibb-Griffith, daughter, Brielle Griffith and son, Myles Griffith; brothers in law Paul Bibb and Aric Bibb (Terri); sisters in law, Trophelia Mosely, Jackie Turney (Loverl) and Monzell Dorsey (Ronald).
Charles Stemler Jr.
Charles (Charlie) Stemler, Jr., 87, Kokomo, passed away August 3, 2016. He was born July 23, 1929 in Lahunta, Colorado, the son of Charles Sr. and Mayme (Roseberry) Stemler.
Charles retired as a crane operator from Continental Steel Corp. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the U.S, Africa and Cuba making runways for planes. He was proud to be a member of the Seabees.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy and brother, Robert.
He is survived by his niece, Jenny (Fred) Vieck, nephew Michael Stemler, sister-in-law Rebecca Stemler and special friend Peggy Durr, and eight great-nieces and ten great-nephews.
Charles was an avid golfer and played several golf courses throughout the U.S., his favorite being Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed dancing, Frank Sinatra music and nice cars – especially convertibles, which in his younger days he drove around the downtown square of Kokomo with the top down and the heater on. He was an accomplished stained glass artist and created many beautiful keepsakes. Each Fall, he and Nancy would spend a week at their timeshare in Branson, Missouri and also spent several Winters in Naples, Florida.

Phillip L. McCauley
Phillip L. McCauley, 79, Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Kokomo, passed on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Hemlock, Indiana, and moved to Florida in 2000.
He served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was a supervisor at Haynes International. He was baptized at First Alliance Church in Lake Wales, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott McCauley.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie McCauley; three sons, Steve McCauley, Jeff McCauley (Susan), Scott McCauley (Stacey); two daughters, Pamela Mann , Suzie Glendenning; stepson, Michael Moore; stepdaughter, Michelle New; one brother, Gene McCauley (Barbara); two sisters, Shirley Lessig (Walter) and Nedra McCauley; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Luella H. King
Luella H. King, 92, of Kokomo, departed this life Saturday, July 30, 2016. Luella was born March 5, 1924 in Union County, TN to the late Attie and Mary (Williams) Hurst.
She worked for AC Delco for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
Luella was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Roy L. King. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and three half-sisters.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Linda (Mike) Kelsey; son, Ron (Vivian) King; grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Wesson, Elizabeth Schroeder, Nathan King, Leah (Patrick) McLaughlin and Joel (Alice) Kelsey and five great-grandchildren.
Luella was a master gardener and excellent cook who always put her family first.

Randy L. Nearon
Randy Lee Nearon, 47, earned his angel wings on August 4, 2016 at 11:57 am. Randy was born on October 15, 1968 in Tipton, Indiana. His amazing parents, the late William Nearon and Jeannie (Sargent) Nearon, who survives, raised him to be the amazing husband, father and Pappi that he was.
He took the vows of in sickness and health, for richer or poorer, through good times and bad till death do us part to his high school sweetheart, Michelle (Hurley) Nearon on August 3, 1991. Randy graduated one from Tri-Central Jr./Sr High school in 1988. He spent 20 years in hospital maintenance working at St. Joseph Hospital, Howard Community Hospital, Community North Hospital and last at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center here in Austin, Texas.
He will be missed by many: to name just a few will be his wife, Michelle of Round Rock, Texas; mother, Jeannie Nearon of Sharpsville, IN; son, Lucas Nearon and wife Morgan of Sharpsville, IN; son, Andrew Nearon of Round Rock, TX; granddaughters: Addi Hook and Braylee Nearon of Sharpsville, IN; sisters: Shellie (Greg) Bitner and Stacy (Gordon) Burris of Sharpsville, IN; niece Hayley Bitner; nephews: Nick Sorley, Nathan Bitner and Jake Sorley all of Sharpsville; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Greeting him at Heaven’s gate was his niece, Chelsey Bitner; grandparents, John and Betty Sargent; grandmother, Mary Walls; and his beloved dad, William Nearon.

William Hogan
William “Bill” Hogan, 76, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2016. He was born and raised in Kokomo.
He received a welding certificate from Indiana University Kokomo. “Bill,” as he was fondly known, was employed at Haynes International as a production supervisor. He served in the United States Army. One of his loves in life was the motorcycle, and he was a charter member of the Road Knights Motorcycle Club. He also attended Pentecostal Lighthouse.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; son, Kent Lamont Hogan; daughter, Michelle Reena Hogan; sister, Lenora J. (Joe) Washington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Second Missionary Baptist Church, with calling from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Luther M. Richmond
Luther Murph Richmond, 90, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, August 5, 2016. He was born on December 5, 1925, in Youngs Creek, KY, the son of Pete and Cora (Moore) Richmond.
Luther retired from Delco Electronics in 1984 as a Pipefitter. His memberships included the Naphtali #389 Masonic Lodge and In His Image Church. Luther was a veteran of the US Navy. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Richmond; sisters, Faye Hinkle, Mae Barnhill; brothers, Charley Richmond, Willard Richmond, Lowell Richmond, Floyd Richmond, Coy Richmond and William Pete Richmond.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyna Richmond; son, Dewayne (Karen) Richmond and daughter,Twyla Richmond Butzin; 4 grandchildren, Brad (Melissa) Richmond, Brent (Melissa) Richmond, Kirby A. Butzin and Heather Butzin-Alexander; 14 great-grandchildren, Brycen Richmond, Brayden Richmond, Rylan Richmond, Tanner England, Taylor England, James Richmond, Jacob Richmond, Jacey Richmond, Jansen Richmond, Logan Butzin, Lanee Butzin, Lynzey Butzin, Chloe Alexander and Keegan Alexander; sister, Lois (Tom) Cross; sister-in-law, Alberta Richmond; step-daughter, Lisa (Eric) Townsend and several nieces and nephews.

June Currens
June Currens, 91, entered into rest on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016. June was born on Jan. 12, 1925, in Cayuga, Indiana, to the late Albert and Ethel Sollars Fortner.
She was a career homemaker, fully devoting herself to her family, especially to her special needs son. Mrs. Currens was also very involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 317 in Greentown, Indiana, and spent her free time enjoying flowers and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darwin H. Currens.
June’s memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Ferrilyn Welsh (Mike Drake), Greenville, South Carolina, Joe Currens, Hawkinsville, Georgia, Christy Bramel (Mike), Summitville, Indiana, and Glenn Currens, Hawkinsville, Georgia; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Wanda M. Cross
Wanda Mae Cross, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 5:01 a.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at North Woods village, Kokomo. She was born November 9, 1932 in Albany, KY to Marvin and Laura (Pondexter) Murray. On December 31, 1948 she married Cecil Cross who preceded her in death on September 17, 1997.
Wanda worked in the cafeteria at Delco Electronics retiring in 1996 after 29 years of service. She was also a faithful member of Courtland Ave. Church of Christ. Wanda always had a smile, enjoyed quilting and loved cooking for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a giving woman, always helping others. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Robert) Sheline, Kokomo, Gaylon W. (Valerie) Cross Sr, Ft Wayne, John (Barbara) Cross, Peru, and Lisa (Bill) Silvers, Kokomo; grandchildren, Dean (Elaine) Harrington, Chad (Suzanne) Harrington, Gaylon W. Cross Jr, Michael Cross, John (Alycia) Cross, David Cross, Larry (Alycia) Roberts, Cindy (Randel) Madden, Kevin (Kelly) Silvers, Randy (Donna) Silvers and Mark (Gayla) Silvers; 40 great-grandchildren; four sisters; and a special friend, Dorothy Sommers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; a son and special friends, Oleta Campbell and Oleen Gerald.

Jessica M. (Roberts) Campbell, 33, Kokomo, passed away at 2:11 pm on Friday, August 5, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born on September 23, 1982, the daughter of Myron A. Roberts & Corina D. (Thieke) Anderson.
Jessica was a 2001 graduate of Eastern High School and a 2013 graduate of Indiana University. She had been an English teacher at Carroll High School and was looking forward to starting her new job as a teacher at the Paddock View Residential Center in Marion. Jessica was the president of Phi Theta Kappa sorority. She was an avid Batman enthusiast, an artist, who enjoyed drawing, painting and anything creative, along with reading and writing. She loved her students and more than anything, loved her daughter, Trinity.
Jessica is survived by her daughter, Trinity Harrington; father, Myron “Mike” (Anita) Roberts; mother, Corina (Bob) Anderson; brother, Nate (Lavonne) Roberts; sisters, Elise Roberts, Tricia (Eddie) Tyler, and Kendra McVay; step-sisters, April Anderson, and Amanda Anderson; step-brother, Robert “Bud” Anderson; maternal grandmother, Fern (Youssef) Fennell; maternal grandfather, Tom (Marlene) Thieke; Maternal great-grandmother, Fern Woodring.
Jessica was preceded in death by her great-grandparents.

Gary E. Pyle
Gary Edward Pyle, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 7:16 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016, at his home. He was born February 2, 1935, in Tipton, to Forest Edward and Addeline R. (Sheppard) Pyle. On August 30, 1958, he married Chloeva Jean Czarney, and she servives.
Gary was a United States Army veteran and had worked at GM/Delphi for 51 years as a plant manager before his retirement. He graduated from GMI Institute with the highest academic achievement, ROBOTS, and was a member of the PKE fraternity. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, gardening and being outdoors and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife Chloeva Jean Pyle, he is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Jean (Jack) Aeschliman; one son, Michael David Pyle; one grandchild, Jacob Edward (Katherine E.) Aeschliman; two great-grandchildren, Brody Edward and Reese E. Aeschliman; brother, David Eugene Pyle; aunt Ruthy Rutherford; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Woolum; brother, Ralph Pyle; and step-father, Wilmar Edward Mettler.

Jean A. Smith
Jean A. Smith, 88 of Tipton went to be with the Lord at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at IU Health Tipton Hospital. He was born in Noblesville on July 30, 1928 and raised in Westfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, William N. & Sybil A. (Inman) Smith, six siblings, his step-mother, two step-sisters and one step-brother.
Jean is survived by his wife Sue (Molden) Smith who he married on April 22, 1974; his children, Dave and Rita Smith and their children Angie, Jason and Zach; Denny and Jody Smith and their children Erika and Abbie; Deborah Kappas and her children Sheila, Samantha, Stephanie, Shelby and Steve; step-children Kim and Jeff Newcom and their children Mandy, Chad, Craig and Clint; and Kelly and Laura Beth Dunn and their daughters Meagan, Katy and Emma. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.
Jean was a farmer and had worked for Trans World Airlines, retiring in 1988. He accepted the Lord as his savior when he was 60 years old through the ministry of the Christian Motorcycle Association and it was his desire that all come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Jean was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton. After his retirement from Trans World Airlines in 1988 he spent several winters volunteering his carpentry talents to the Hephzibah Children’s Home in Macon, Georgia, a ministry of the Wesleyan Church.
Jean was a graduate of Westfield High School. He served the community by working with Meals on Wheels and helping many with his carpentry skills. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. He will be remembered as a teacher, helper and friend.

Myron E. Wise
Myron E. “Mad Dog” Wise, 66 of Kokomo, died at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence in Kokomo. He had previously lived in Tipton County for over 30 years. Myron was born on August 22, 1949 in Kokomo to Max E. & Martha E. (Gates) Wise. On September 9, 1972 he married Sherl K. Wise and she preceded him in death on January 19, 2008.
Myron had worked for Chrysler at the Kokomo Transmission Plant, retiring in 2002. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mad Dog enjoyed working on his antique Harley Davidsons and building his classic muscle cars. “More power the better!” He was a dedicated father and friend. Deer hunting and fishing were two of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed his beloved Rottweilers, Duke and Ruby.
Mad Dog is survived by two daughters, Tracy Kelley of Kokomo and Jessica Wise of Elwood; his mother Martha Wise; three siblings, Rick Wise of Kokomo, Kenny Keagan and Ramona; four grandchildren, Brett, A.J., Kelsey and Dakota Kelley; four great-grandchildren, Carter, Kayden, Colton and Kyrin.

LaMona Shahan
LaMona Kay Everly Shahan, 69, of Galveston, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at her home in Galveston after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 12, 1947 in Terre Haute to Harold LaVern and Ramona Everly.
LaMona graduated from Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. She received her nursing degree from I.U. Kokomo in 1980 and retired after 30 years working as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Galveston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband Don Shahan of 49 years, son, Jason (Laura) Shahan, and daughter Myra (Reed) Sturm. Her grandchildren, Mitchell and Zachary Shahan and Carley and Cade Sturm. Her mother, Ramona (Jack) Hinesley and brother Ward (Nancy) Everly and family. She was preceded in death by her father.

Lillian M. Ludwig
Lillian M. Ludwig, 92, of Kokomo, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ surrounded by her loving family at 11:35 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at her home in Kokomo. She was born November 1, 1923 in Howard County to Albert A. and Gertrude L. (Waterman) Kerkhoff. She married Kermit T. Ludwig on August 2, 1947 and he preceded her in death May 2, 1987.
Lillian graduated from Ervin Township High School in 1942, she was employed by Turner Manufacturing for several years. She was very active in her church, Zion Lutheran, and served as the church organist from 1938 until 2013. She was also very involved in church activities and the women’s altar guild. Her life was placing her trust in the Lord, playing the organ, and her family.
She is survived by her children, Rev. Tom (Susan) Ludwig, Kokomo; Philip Ludwig, Kokomo; and Janet (Ken) Vandre, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Steven, Mark, Daniel, Jennifer, Kimberly, Stephanie, and Thomas “T.J.” ; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph, ShyAnn, Dani, Hunter, Chloe, Olivia, Ariel, Mitchell and Silas. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Leona Kerkhoff, Muncie, and Gene Ludwig, Twentynine Palms, CA. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit, brother Clarence, sister Florence and also an infant brother and sister. She was also preceded by a daughter-in-law, Judy (Metcalf) Ludwig, brothers-in-law, Robert Ludwig and Verle Ludwig, an infant granddaughter and three infant great grandchildren.

Jackie R. Graf
Jackie Richard Graf, 79, Fishers, passed away at 1:30 am on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born on June 22, 1937, in Greentown, the son of Omen & Mildred (Miller) Graf. On July 4, 1957, he married Beverly Miller and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2013.
Jackie retired as an independent contractor for Graf Roofing Company. He was past president of the Rusty Nuts Car Club, and he loved to show cars. Jackie enjoyed racing, along with time spent with his family and friends.
Jackie is survived by his children, Tammy Francis, Kokomo, Diana Granson, Kokomo, and Randy Graf, Fishers; grandchildren; Christopher Frances, Jessica Frances, Kayla Landis, Erin Davis, Ashlee Fisher, Michael Granson, Joseph Granson, and Brittney Lawman, along with 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Graf, Miriam Honeas, and Bernard Graf.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly Graf, brothers, Oman Graf, and Robert Graf, and sister, Wanda Graf.

Ellen L. Stewart
Ellen L. Stewart, 98, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at 2:06 A.M., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born on March 28, 1918 in Kokomo to the late John A. and Ethel (Woolridge) Fernung. She married Clyde F. Stewart on September 9, 1937 who preceded her in death on December 23, 1984.
Ellen was a graduate of Kokomo High School Class of 1937. She was a homemaker and was known as a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ellen was a caretaker to everyone who knew her. She was known as hard-working and selfless woman with incredible personal strength. Among her many interests were her love of walking and staying active. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake, and spending time with her loving family and siblings.
Ellen is survived by son, Bob Stewart, Granite Bay, CA; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Barrett, Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Mike (Kelly) Barrett, Greentown, Denise (Brett) Leicht, Kokomo, Scott (Rosie) Goudy, Russiaville, Brett (Nichole) Goudy, St. Charles, MO, Lisa (Mark) Hornung, Newburg, Andrea (Brian) Turner, Centerville, OH, and Ryan (Portia) Stewart, El Dorado Hills, CA; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Elson, Logansport; and close extended family friend, Dan Marconi.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Andrew Fernung, Lloyd Fernung, and Ernest Fernung; and two sisters, Nora Julian and Rose Mary “Rosie” Strawback.
