Jerry L. Sims, 80, Kokomo, passed away at 2:13 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at Aperion Care in Kokomo. He was born February 21, 1937, in Kokomo, to Warren and Carrie (Smith) Sims. On December 30, 1994, he married Nancy S. Royer, and she survives.

Deloris Jean Fry, 68, Miami, passed away at 11:43 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born May 18, 1949, in Lafayette, to Donald L. and Ruth B. (Robbins) Kelly. On May 25, 1969, she married Glen Thomas Fry, at Cutler Presbyterian Church, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2014.

Deloris graduated from Carroll High School in 1968 and worked for Delco Electronics for fifteen years before retiring and becoming a fulltime homemaker.

Wilma Phillabaum

Wilma Chloedene Phillabaum, 96, passed away on January 21, 2018 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. Wilma was born to John and Ethel (Freeland) Kelley in Cooksville, Illinois, then moved to Oakford, Indiana during her childhood. Wilma married her husband of 68 years, William L. Phillabaum on April 13, 1941. He preceded her in passing on September 9, 2009.

Wilma retired from Delco Electronics after 31 years.

Robert “Bob” Hulan Stockton, 80, Kokomo, went to be with his Lord on January 20, 2018 at 4:12p.m. Bob was born June 22, 1937 to Charlie Stockton and Ila Kay (Guffey) Stockton. He married Alice (Brown) Stockton February 6, 1960. She survives him.

In his 20’s Bob worked for the Carnation Milk Company and retired from Haynes International in 1992 after serving 27 years of service as a Mill Operator.

Ruth E. Scalf, 67, of Galveston, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning, January 20th at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born October 25, 1950 in La Follette, Tennessee to Onie and Elsie (Paul) Goins. She married Charles “Chuck” Scalf December 1, 1970 in Greentown and he survives. Together they celebrated over 48 years of marriage.

Ruth worked as a cashier for St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo for many years.

Brenda Sue (Rhoton) Kirby, 67, passed away on Saturday, January 20th in Kokomo. She was born on July 4, 1950 to the late William and Ada Rhoton in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Brenda was raised in Gate City, Virginia and graduated from high school in Virginia, and later married the love of her life, Kenneth L Kirby on July 23, 1970 at Jefferson Baptist Church in Kokomo.

Robert Earl (Bob) Shuck Jan 22, 2018 passed away on January 19, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications from Influenza.

Bob was born January 8, 1925, on a farm in Prairie Township in Tipton County Indiana, to Frederick Earl Shuck and Gladys Mae Campbell.

Bob attended Galveston High School and Graduated from Kokomo High School in 1943. He worked for Haynes Stellite. He married Guyneth Rose on January 31,1947 and she preceded him in death in 2004.

Donald L. Holman, 91, of Kokomo passed away at 7:45 pm on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Northwoods Village Health Care. He was born on Nov. 26, 1926 in Herrick, Illinois, to Charles Edward and Margaret (Orr) Holman. On Nov. 6, 1956, Donald married Loretta Calia and she passed away on April 30, 2016.

He retired from Chrysler after 24 years. Donald served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War.

Donald R. “Donnie” Moreland, age 70 of Tipton passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 3, 1947 in Indianapolis to Glover Sr. and Emogene (Fletcher) Moreland. He married Arlene (Parr) Moreland on January 13, 1968.

Donnie was a 1966 graduate of Tipton High School in Tipton, Indiana. He worked at the Tipton Post Office before starting his trucking career of 43 years. Donnie most recently semi-retired and started working for Total Seed Production in Tipton.

John Paul Hetzner, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born February 25, 1943, in Peru, to Alfred M. and Minnie (Gevers) Hetzner. On February 11, 1968, he married Gloria I. Clark, in Peru, and she survives.

John graduated from Mexico High School in 1961 and served in the Army National Guard as a helicopter crew chief from 1965 to 1971. He went on to work for Delco Electronics for over 34 years as a tin smith, retiring in 1999.

Carolyn Stokes

Carolyn Stokes, age 75, of Tipton, Indiana passed away on Tuesday January 23, 2018 quietly at her home. She was born in McDougal, Arkansas on July 16, 1942 to Claud and Nettie (Parrish) Micenhamer. On November 7, 1959 Carolyn married Leo Stokes and they shared 52 years of marriage together before Leo’s passing in 2011.

Catherine Torres

Catherine Ida Torres, 79, Kokomo, went to be with her Lord on January 22, 2018 at 6:40p.m. Catherine was born March 29, 1938 to Gennaro and Mildred (Griffin) DePalma.

In 1983, she married Maximino Torres, who survives.

Ruth Ebeling

Ruth O. Ebeling, 92, passed away on January 23, 2018 at Century Villa in Greentown, Indiana.

She was born on February 3, 1925 in Cicero, Indiana. Ruth married her husband of 60 years, Albert Ebeling, in 1957 in Tipton, Indiana and he survives. Ruth retired from Delco Electronics in 1986 after 34 years.

Don W. Middleton

Don W. Middleton, 84, Greentown, passed away at home Thursday, January 25, 2018. He was born July 29, 1933, in Muncie, Indiana, to Ruth and Joe Middleton. He graduated from Muncie Central High School.

in 1952 and started his career at Bearings Inc. in 1953. On February 6, 1955 he and Barbara Badders were married at Hazelwood Christian Church in Muncie, Indiana. In 1964 he was appointed Branch Manager of the newly built Bearings Inc. in Kokomo and the family settled in Greentown and has called it home for the past 53 years. Don retired from Bearings, Inc. in 1993 after 40 years of service.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown with Pastor Steve Eckart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Sun Meyers

Sun Ye Meyers, 70, passed away Saturday evening January 20, 2018 at home in Richmond, KY. She was born December 3, 1947 to Man Bok and Im Song (Lee) Kim in CheongJu, South Korea.

Sun Ye married Von Meyers and they were married for 24 years.

William Kromann

William “Bill” Kenneth Kromann passed away at home at the age of 69 on January 25, 2018. Known for his warm smile and a friend to many, Bill will be deeply missed.

Bill was born on March 31, 1948 in Detroit, Mich. to William Henry Kromann and Lillian Kromann, who preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Wed. Jan. 31 at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, Ind. Family will receive guests from 2-4 PM, followed by the service at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kokomo Humane Society.

Maurice Gooch

Maurice Donald “Don” Gooch, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at The Wellington in Kokomo. He was born October 10, 1934, in Covington, Kentucky, to Cecil and Dorothy (Horton) Gooch. On February 20, 1960, he married Elaine Bolling, at the First Christian Church in Noblesville, and she survives. Their marriage was blessed in the Catholic Church on March 31, 2001, at St. Joan of Arc in Kokomo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Brian Dudzinski the celebrant. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Riley Hospital for Children or to Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School.
