Leedy Everett Dunkin Jr., 77, of Kokomo, passed away in the early morning March 12, 2018 at St. Vincent Kokomo. Leedy was born on January 4, 1941. He was the son of Leedy Everett Dunkin Sr. and Ella Jane Dunkin of Kokomo, who have passed. Leedy and Judith Ann Weaver were married May 9, 1987, at the Buckeye Friends Church by Rev. Walter McAdams and Rev. Richard Wrightsman. Both Leedy and Judy were born with special needs, yet as a married couple; they were able to become a great team, enjoying each other and living productive lives. Judy passed August 2, 2016, after working her entire life at St. Vincent Kokomo.

Rose Shane
Rose Ellen Shane, 80, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Wellbrook of Kokomo. She was born December 5, 1937 to Ruth (Malott) and Burvia Eckelbarger. She married Kenneth William Shane November 20, 1955. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1996.
Rose graduated from Rochester High School in 1955. While her husband Kenneth was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO she was employed at Montgomery Ward store and then transferred to Wards in Madison, WI when Kenneth was stationed at Truax Field. She later accepted a position as teller at First National Bank until her husband was discharged. Once they returned to Greentown, IN she took a job at Union Bank. She then went on to work at Indiana University for 11 years as their administrative accounts clerk.

David Michael “Mike” Deis, 77, Russiaville, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his home. He was born October 17, 1940, in Kokomo, to Henry M. and Thelma P. (Dick) Deis. On April 3, 1990, he married Jill Anne Reser, and she survives.
Mike graduated from Kokomo High School in 1958 and went on to work in sales and service at Kokomo Glass for 50 years before retiring. He served as vice president of the Houston Park Babe Ruth Baseball League and was a member of Faith Church of Christ in Burlington, the Russiaville Chapter # 130 Order of the Eastern Star, and a Past Master and member of the New London Masonic Lodge #283 F & AM.
In addition to his wife, Jill Deis, he is survived by his children, Jan Deis, Pell City, Alabama, Michelle (James) Sutherland, Kokomo, Michael (Wendy) Deis, Kokomo, David (fiancé Jessica Dunlap) Deis, Kokomo, Nicholas Hunter, Russiaville, and Brandi Tressler, Russiaville; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Forrest (Pat) Deis, Kokomo.

Steve Christopher Abbott, 69, of Cook County Illinois, was born April 1, 1948 to Jean Elizabeth Casbarro and Otha Lawrence “Larry” Abbott, Sr. He passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by those he loved. Steve enjoyed playing Euchre, Chess, Ms. Pac-Man, fishing, camping, playing guitar and spending time with his family. He enjoyed bird watching and feeding Mallard ducks. Steve was Southern Baptist. He had devoted several faithful years to the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township where he worked diligently until his early retirement due to disability.
He was preceded in death by his Uncle and Aunt who raised him like their own, William and Effie May (Abbott) Byrd as well as, his older brother Lawrence “Larry” Abbott, Jr.
Steve touched the lives of many people and was a very memorable person with a big heart. He would do almost anything for anyone.
Frances Myers
Frances “Darlene” Myers, age 78, formerly of Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2018 in Fort Myers, FL. Darlene was born December 8, 1939 in Kokomo, IN to Virgil and Gladys (Sink) Smith. She had been a hairdresser and cosmetologist for more than 60 years in the Kokomo area. Prior to moving to Florida, she attended First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo.
She is survived by her daughters: Michele (husband Wally Danielson) Judge of Excelsior, MN and Tiffani (husband Michael) Ogden of Bloomington; grandchildren: Ryan, Shane, Alex, Drew, and Ross. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Smith; sister, Janice Easton.

Dorothy A. McKibben, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 9:35 am Tuesday March 20, 2018, at her home. She was born September 29, 1935 in Peru, the daughter of the late James Russell & Florence (Buskirk) Pogue. On August 17, 1957, she married James L. McKibben who preceded her in death on July 3, 1986.
Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of Peru High School. She then graduated from Nursing Training at Holy Cross in South Bend. She also received an Associates’ degree from I.U.K. in General Studies. Dorothy worked for St. Joseph Hospital and was a member of Brookside Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 years.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Larry (Debby) McKibben, Bloomington, David McKibben (Michelle Birden), Kokomo, and Ron (April) McKibben, Kokomo; daughter-in-law, Sharon McKibben, Kokomo; grandchildren, Tony (Christina) McKibben, Kokomo, Anissa McKibben, Terre Haute; great-grandchildren, Davina McKibben, and Kaya McKibben; step-grandchildren, Hayley D. Timothy Romhild
Timothy S. Romhild, 29, Kokomo, passed away at 6:57 pm Monday, March 12, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born August 12, 1988, in El Paso, TX, the son of Steven C. & Melinda S. (Clifton) Romhild. On July 16, 2011, he married Brittney D. Barker and she survives.

Donald Shelley
Born March 16, 1939, Lebanon, IN, he was one of nine children and became deaf at the age of 5 after surviving spinal meningitis. He attended the Indiana School for the Deaf, where he participated in track and football. When he was 12, he met the love of his life, Rosemary, for whom he would hitchhike from Frankfort to East Indy to see. After ten years of on and off dating, they wed on June 30, 1962 in Buck Creek Chapel in Indianapolis.
He spent the last years with his daughter in Arizona and lived in the flight path of Phoenix Harbor Airport and would watch planes arriving all day. He had traveled to the ocean in California.
Beverly Julius
Beverly A. Julius, 81 of rural Tipton County died at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at her residence. She was born on October 10, 1936 in Windfall to Elmer Pete Smith and Jnettie (Browning) Smith Dobbins. On December 30, 1994 she married Paul Julius and he survives.
Beverly was a homemaker and made her career as a hairdresser. She was a graduate of Windfall High School in the Class of 1954 and had attended Windfall Christian Church. Beverly loved to read and decorate.
