James E. Beechy

James E. “Jim” Beechy, 79, of Walton, passed away at 4:12 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. Jim was born August 8, 1936 to Wilbert and Margaret (Murphy) Beechy. He married Joyce Fair on May 8, 1955 in the Walton Christian Church and she survives.

Jim was self employed as a barber in Walton for 35 years. He was later employed as a barber at the Logansport State Hospital where he worked for 23 years and retired in August. He also drove a school bus for Southeastern School Corporation for 48 years, where he had a regular route and drove for various sports teams, student clubs, and the Lewis Cass Marching Kings. Until retirement, Jim was very active with the Walton Volunteer Fire Department where he served as an EMT. He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and yard work. He especially enjoyed food, almost any food. He never met a sandwich he didn’t like and was known to sneak “just a little hamburger” when his wife wasn’t watching. He was happiest when sharing a meal with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim had a tender heart and cared for animals and children; he loved to socialize and continued to make new friends even through the final stages of his life.
