James A. DeWitt

James A. DeWitt, 81, Russiaville, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at his home. He was born on July 5, 1934, in Kokomo, the son of Marble & Bessie (Hullinger) DeWitt. On July 3, 1954, he married Carolyn Hall and she survives.

James was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. James retired from Stellite Corporation after 30 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed quarter midget racing, umpiring softball games, coaching basketball for their church league and bowled in several bowling leagues.

James is survived by his wife, Carolyn DeWitt, Russiaville; children, James (Sherri) DeWitt II, and Gwynne (Monte) Nelson; grandchildren, Shana (Thomas) Caine, Ginger (William Lidy) DeWitt, James (Heather) DeWitt III, Jennifer Nelson, and Elly (Tony) Bowling; step grandchildren, Jordan Imlay, Jodi Lidy, Tausha Imlay, and Teresa (Casey) Harrison; great-grandchildren, Tori Vawter, Thomas Caine, Jr, Elizabeth DeWitt, Parker Caine, Owen DeWitt, Emma DeWitt, Daelin Bowling, Daizee Bowling, and Jayden DeWitt; step-great-grandchildren, Mason, Conner & Addison Harrison, Lauralei DeWitt, and Ashton Imlay; great-great-granddaughter, Railyn Vawter.

Cynthia R. Stoner

Cynthia R. Stoner, 59, Logansport, passed away at 9:35 am on Monday, November 30, 2015, at the Chase Center in Logansport. She was born on April 27, 1956, in Kokomo, the daughter of Kenneth & Rose (Hollingsworth) Stoner.

Cynthia was a very happy and outgoing person. She loved animals, shopping, music, dancing, and spending time in the park. Cynthia earned several medals in the Special Olympics where she participated in many events.

Cynthia is survived by her sister, Julia (Chuck) Fannin, San Jose, CA, her aunt, Mae Stoner, Ft. Ann, NY, and her uncle, Dwight Hollingsworth, Tequesta, FL.

Glen R. Johnson

On December 3, 2015, at 1:10 a.m., Glen “Dick” Richard Johnson was reunited with his soul mate, Gloria. Glen was born to Harold and Esther Johnson on July 1, 1942. He married Gloria Jean Haworth on August 5, 1961.

He retired from Frito Lay in 2002 and was also an auctioneer. His true passion was working with kids, and he served as the president for the Russiaville Little League, coached for 26 years, and managed the moms’ softball team, the Russiaville Rowdies. He was a friend to everyone that crossed his path and helped anyone in need. His boisterous personality would light up a room and would always make you laugh.

James L. Cripe

James Leon Cripe, 76, Tipton, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Riverview Hospital. He was born on Nov. 18, 1939, in Lafayette, Indiana the son of Fred G and Nellie Francis (Corns) Cripe.

James served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, and working on cars. He was a tool and die maker at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He will be remembered for being a loving father, brother and devoted grandfather.

James is survived by his children, Keith (Sherri) Cripe, Cathy Davis, and Laura (Jason) Curtis; nine grandchildren, Bethany Cripe, Adam Davis, Brianna Abbott, Heather Jones, Tyler Davis, Savanna Jones, Dylan Jones, James Cripe and Kaitlyn Cripe; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Disher; brother, Derry (Terry) Cripe; first wife, Norma Rubush who was by his side when he passed away; former son-in-law and good friend, Tim Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Delmas J. Orr

Delmas J. “Jo” Orr, 95 of Tipton died at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at IU Health Tipton Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born March 17, 1920 in Arcadia to Robert & Catherine (Reynolds) Dinkins. On June 23, 1938 she married William P. Orr and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1985.

Jo had worked at Delco. She attended Trinity Wesleyan Church and enjoyed quilting, baking, square dancing and working puzzles. She was a seamstress and loved tending to her flowers and gardening. She loved her dog Lucy.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Jones, Elwood; four grandchildren, Dawn Cox, Terry Miller, Scott Jones and Brian Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Jo was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosie Yeary; two sons-in-law, Lefty Yeary and Sam Jones; a granddaughter, Jenni (Jones) Lamont; and a granddaughter-in-law, Brenda Jones.

Private family services will be held with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.

Wanda M. Wasson

Wanda Mae Wasson, 94, of Kokomo, passed away on December 1, 2015 at Howard Community Hospital.

Wanda was born in Kokomo on April 7, 1921 to the late Samuel and Beulah (Talbert) Piper. She was employed with Delco Electronics.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Beverly Jean Lynn of Kokomo; grandchildren, James McBride, Timothy McBride, Elizabeth Coulter, Teresa Deckert, Dana Trevino, Cathy Tuskey, Ginger Roberts, and Beverly Stahl; several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and special caregivers, Connie and Mike Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wasson, and son, Gary Wasson.

Per Wanda’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, Florida.

Edna M. Snow

Edna Mae Snow, 98, Kokomo, passed away at 9:20 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at her residence. She was born May 28, 1917 in Martin County, Indiana to Henry Robottem Babb and Opal (Cooper) Babb. On April 8, 1937, in Kokomo, she married William H. Snow. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1977. She graduated from Owensburg High School in 1936. She had worked for Modern and American Laundry in Kokomo. Edna enjoyed reading, sewing, and quilting. Over the past year she has made seven quilts for her great grandchildren for Christmas.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Bonds of Kokomo; daughter, Donna Blackowiak of Indianapolis; daughter in law, Cindy Snow of Kokomo; grandchildren, Roger Bonds and wife Shelley of Kokomo, Gregory Scott Bonds and wife Rhonda of Kokomo, Robert Bonds and wife Keema of Portland, Oregon, Jaime Bonds and wife Heather of Kokomo, Shawn William Snow and wife Janna of Kokomo, Sherry Lee of Kokomo, Nancy Ann Blackowiak of Florida, Donald Blackowiak and wife Alessandra of Sarasota, Florida, and Michael T. Blackowiak and wife Shawn of Kokomo; 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, William R. Snow, granddaughter, Mary Snow, son-in-law, Curtis Bonds, and son-in-law, Edward Blackowiak.

James R. Wilson

James R. “Jim” Wilson, 87, Kokomo, formerly of Logansport, passed away at 3:00AM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born July 13, 1928 in Logansport to the late Ralph Wilson and Mary Ellen (Kelly) Wilson. On April 17, 1987, he married Audrey C. (Hurst) Wilson and she preceded him in death on September 28, 2010.

Jim retired from Conrail Railroad in Logansport after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Jim’s lifelong passion was horse racing.

Surviving are his two daughters, Marla Ann Wilson and Angela (James) Dixon; three step-daughters, Donna (Jeff) Litz, Robin Easter, and Michele (John) Burke; five grandchildren, Kelly (Aaron) Munsey, Jenna (Justin) Moree, Haley Easter, Tyler Burke, and Morgan Burke; five great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Havens; and his beloved poodle, Abby.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Audrey; and brother, Eugene Wilson.

Jack E. Selvey

James Edward Selvey, 72, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:35 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 20, 1943 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Abe and Sudie (McQueen) Selvey.

James retired from Mier Products in 2002. He loved bowling and was a member of the United States Bowling Congress. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Kokomo.

James is survived by his wife, Sharon (Duncan) Selvey; children, Russell Selvey, Haley Selvey, Denise Selvey, and step daughter, Lisa (William) Green; several grandchildren; step grandchild, Jessica (Boyfriend, Jeremy Pulley) Hunt; siblings, Edna Ruth (Elza Floyd) Brake, Mary (Gary) Lautenschlager, Edith (Lester) Humbert; and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen C. Bowne

Stephen Claude Bowne, 63, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born April 29, 1952 in Connersville, IN to Phil and Dorothy “Dottie” Bowne. On October 21, 1978 he married Elaine Higgins, who survives.

A 1970 Western High School graduate, Steve went on to graduate from Manchester College in 1974 where he studied history. Steve served the State of Indiana and the City of Kokomo in many positions. He retired from Taylor High School in 2013 after many years of service. Steve was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was involved with Kokomo and Tipton Civic Theatres.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Bowne and daughters Mindy (Josh) Hancock, Kokomo, Megan (Brandon) McDonald, Indianapolis, and Andrea Bowne, Kansas City, MO. He was the proud grandfather of Maleah, Maidie and Ethan Hancock and Nora, Grace and soon to be baby boy McDonald. A sister and brother, Pam and Stan Bowne also survive as well as niece and nephew Brittany (Russ) Howell and Shawn Bowne and mother and father-in-law John and Eva Higgins.

Glory J. Bennett

Glory “Gloria” June Bennett, 73, Russiaville, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at her home. She was born on June 9, 1942, in Tipton County, the daughter of Robert & Ella (Crick) Stewart. On February 16, 1962, she married John N. Bennett and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2002.

Gloria was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church of God. She had been the church secretary and had been involved in the Ladies Auxiliary and the Cub Scouts where she was a Scout Master. Gloria enjoyed quilting, cooking, camping, crafting, traveling, along with hosting parties and family get-togethers.

Paula Ruthann (Armstrong) Adams, 60, Kokomo, passed away at 10:56 am on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born the youngest of six children on August 16, 1955, in Kokomo, to Lewis Dale & Maxine K. (Miller) Armstrong. On April 9, 1998, she married Gary A. Adams in Lawrence, IN, and he survives.

Paula was a homemaker who loved to cook and family get togethers, especially for the holidays. She enjoyed the outdoors and was very much a people person. She will be forever missed by her family, not only for her advice, but for her love and understanding. We will all miss this beautiful person as we would ourselves. God Bless and keep her.

Charles R. Jarrett, 83, of Kokomo passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Monday, December 07, 2015 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo.

Born on November 13, 1932, in Fortville to the late Everett H. and Beatrice Kelly Jarrett. He married Brenda K. Grady on January 14, 1967 in Kokomo. Charles was the former owner of Jarrett Appliance from 1974 to 1997 and Sycamore Cottage from 1988 to 2010. He was a member of the Austin Masonic Lodge # 128 in Tipton, Order of the Eastern Star Rosary 66 Chapter in Tipton, and the Kempton Christian Church. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, the outdoors, auctions, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda K. Jarrett; children, Teresa (Bill) Nethery of Bloomington, Susie (Mark) Snider of Winchester, Rick (Kelly) Jarrett of Kokomo, and Cory (Virginia) Jarrett of Tipton; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; in-laws, Darrell (Linda) Grady of Pleasant Plains, AR, Emma Bliss of Bald Knob, AR, Alta Grady of Princeton, KY, Mary Grady of Columbus, IN, and Evelyn Jarrett of Noblesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Jarrett Jr.; brothers, Dick and Bud Jarrett; sister, Pattie McClarney; brothers- in-law, Bob Grady and Joe Grady Jr., and Jerry Bliss; father-in-law, Joe Grady; and mother-in-law, Ivy Grady; sister-in-law, Doris Jarrett.

In keeping with Charles’s wishes cremation is planned following the service.

Kelli M. Allen

Kelli Marie Allen, 29, Kokomo, Indiana passed away at 2:30am on Sunday, December 6th at Howard Community Hospital after a battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 28th 1986 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is the daughter of Jeff and Juanita M. (White) Thomas of Russiaville, Indiana and Donnie and Tammie Allen of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kelli graduated from Tri-Central High School in 2005. She went on to attend Ivy Tech Community College. She was employed with Fast Lane Foods in Russiaville, Indiana. Kelli loved spending time with her son Anderson, his sister Macey, and her extended family: Carroll and Patty Cohee. She enjoyed watching movies and reading stories to Anderson, as well as, watching the Colts play, attending church, and going to concerts. Kelli had an infectious smile that could light up a room and her friendly, compassionate heart never knew a stranger. She was a giving soul that always looked out for others.

Kelli is survived by her son, Anderson Mori-Wayne Cohee; parents, Jeff and Juanita Thomas, Donnie and Tammie Allen; sister, Kaci Allen ( Erin Judd ) brother, Kolby Thomas; grandparents, Danny and Sarah Powell, Larry and Vickie Starbuck, Ruthie Waterman; great-grandparent, Kate Thomas, Along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Kelli is preceded in death by the love of her life, Cason Cohee; Cousin, Ellie Marie Thomas; grandparents, Carl Wayne Allen, James Thomas, Cecil and Estelle White, and Jack and Rosie Currens.

Nettie L. Ridenour

Nettie Louise ‘Beezie’ Ridenour, 86, Kokomo, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on December 7, 2015 at Northwoods Village Health Care Center. She was born the daughter of Artie & Lottie Fern (Curts) Spencer in Clinton County on May 1, 1929.

Nettie graduated from Frankfort High School, and had a 21 year career doing domestic work for many families in Howard County, whom she adopted as her own. She also worked as a bartender at various establishments in Kokomo. She was a member of the 1st Assembly of God, and loved her grandkids, spending time with friends, and music. She was the longest living member of her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (David) Davis, Terri (Dave) Cross; grandchildren, Alicia (Josh) Cothern, Brian Davis, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Melma K. Bagwell

Melma K. Bagwell, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 5:35 pm on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born on April 4, 1929, in Tipton, the daughter of Nole & Catherine (Finnerty) Coy. She married James E. Bagwell and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1987.

Melma was a 1946 graduate of Kokomo High School. She retired in 1984 after 34 years of service with Delco Electronics as a group leader. Melma was a member of UAW Local 292 and Daughters of the Moose Lodge. She supported several local charities such as We Care and the Veterans. Melma was a talented artist, painter and loved to sew. She loved to travel and had lived in Florida for 20 years with her longtime boyfriend Gene Staton. Melma cherished the time she spent with her dogs, Izzy, Boo Boo, Parie, and Misty.

Melma is survived by her nephew Steven Nevens, Kokomo; niece, Kathleen Staton Goodnight; great nieces, Shannon (Michael) Doster, Jennifer (Richard) Carter, Myrandi (Jeremiah) Plake, and Tiffany Goodnight and family; great nephews, Randy Owens, Michael Goodnite II and family; great great nephews, Brandon Meacham, Adonis (Julia) Doster, Jason Ferenc, Michael Ferenc, Randy Warner, Cameron Owens, Alex Owens, and Michael Zell; great great nieces, Breanna Ferenc, Carlie Owens, Faith Owens, Madison Owens, Destanie Zell, Jasmine Doster; great great great nephews, Jayden Doster, and A’den Warner; great great great niece, Kaitlinne Warner, along with Melma’s dearest friend, Wanda (Laverne) Utterback and her beautician, Michelle Doak.

Melma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Bagwell, longtime companion, Gene Staton, sister, Eilene Goodnight, nephew, Michael Goodnight, three aunts, her most beloved dog, Izzy, along with many loved family and friends.

R. Michael

Stephanie R. (Thompson) Michael, 52, Kokomo, passed away at 10:50 pm on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born on January 6, 1963, in Kokomo, the daughter of Doyle & Billie (Price) Thompson.

Stephanie was a 1981 graduate of Western High School. She had been the manager of Cone Palace for 36 years. Stephanie had attended First Church of the Nazarene and greatly enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Stephanie is survived by her parents, Doyle and Billie Thompson; daughter, Samantha (Keith) Taylor, Kokomo; brother, Brian (Denise) Thompson, Kokomo; sister, Cheryl (Ted) Kenworthy, Kokomo; grandchildren, Asiaynna and Key’Aire; nieces and nephews, Barbara Finton, Jeremiah Thompson, James Heckman, Jennifer Crow, Matthew Heckman, and Johna Kenworthy; great-nieces and great-nephews, Grayden and Madison Crow, Bailey Zook, Kailin Kenworthy and Kiersten Slater, along with her dog Nylah and her cat, Daphne.

Wallace M. DeWitt

Ronald R. Lester, 75 of Kokomo passed away at 5:40 pm on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born on November 7, 1940 in Appalachia, Virginia to Orville and Juanita (Trent) Lester. Ronald married Lynda D. Graves on June 26, 1972 and she survives.

Ronald was a self-employed mechanic and car dealer. He had also worked at Conkle’s, Erik’s, and Oldsmobile. He loved fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife Lynda Lester of Kokomo; two children James E. Lester of Kokomo, Melanie (Jason) Russeau of Kokomo; three grandchildren Daulton J., Christopher L., and Madison C; and his little buddy Molley.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Juanita Lester; two brothers Robert Lester and Perry Lester; one sister Dorothy Kercheval.

Milos O. Graves

Milos Oscar Graves, 72, of Charleston, WV passed away at 3:40 pm on December 4, 2015 at his home. He was born on January 23, 1943 in Clinton County, IN to James Oscar and Margaret Lucy (Finger) Graves.

Milos was a graduate of Forest High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He loved going on mission trips to Haiti to help others in need.

Survivors include sisters Luella Martin of Frankfort, Velma Pritts of Portland, TN, Verna (Gene) Carter of Kokomo, Lynda Lester of Kokomo; brothers Raymond (Martha) Graves of Frankfort, Robert (Mona) Graves of Parrish, FL, and Danny (Connie) Graves of South Bend.

Milos was preceded in death by his parents James and Margaret Graves; four brothers Fred, Roy, Troy and Kenneth Graves and four sisters Elsie Hale, Maxine Johnson, Rena Mae Graves, Juanita McKinney.

Linda Morrisett

Linda Morrisett, age 69, of Windfall, Indiana passed away on Saturday December 5, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on January, 7 1946 in Monticello, KY to David and Flora (Gregory) Morris. Linda married Denny Morrisett on April 201972 in Frankfort, Indiana.

She was a member of the Church of God in Tipton. Linda had bowled on various leagues in the Tipton and Elwood area over the years. Her main focus in life was on her family which included her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Linda also liked to travel and looked forward to the occasional family vacation.

Linda is survived by her husband Denny Morrisett of Windfall, her son, Robert and wife Kim Morrisett of Kokomo, her daughter, Paula Sanders of Tipton and her three grandchildren; Suzanne Martin, Stephanie Smith, and Tristin Sanders. Also surviving are a brother, Joe Morris and a sister, Anna Morris both of KY.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Rufus Morris and two sisters; Bonnie Gregory and Mary Sue Vaughn.

Bonita S. Matthews

Bonita “Bonnie” Sue Matthews, 67, a resident of Brandon, MS died Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with interment in the Lakeland Place Memorial Park Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Friday, December 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Bonnie was a native of Kokomo, IN. She was married to Lieutenant Charles Henry Matthews. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Lakeside Public Schools for many years. She was a member of Saint Marks United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Chancey and Goldie Hollander, Bill Walls and Roberta Karnes; son, Robert Toon; brothers, Walley Hollander and Artie Hollander; father and mother in law, Robert and Molly Matthews.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lieutenant Charles Henry Matthews; children, Charles Henry (Amy Jones) Matthews, Gary Lee (Shannon Marie Barbour) Matthews, Jennifer Matthews (Silas Kaine) Ezell and Annie Michelle (Todd) Thompson; sister, Lois Hollander; brother, Gene Hollander; 7 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Edward A. Duncan

Edward Alan Duncan, 63, of Peru, passed away at 11:30 PM Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his residence. Born March 10, 1952 in Kokomo, he is the son of the late Howard Duncan and Naomi (Troyer) Duncan. He was a 1970 graduate of Kokomo High School. He was a job setter for Chrysler for 32 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #685. He enjoyed working in the yard, his antiques, and his faithful companion Zippie.

Survivors include three sons Chad Edward Duncan of Brownsburg, Kevin Andrew (Libbi) Duncan and Jesse Michael Duncan, both of Kokomo; one step-son Jarred (Sheryl) Hostetler of Houston, Texas; one step-daughter Beth (Dustin) Hays of Peru; four sisters Ruth (Harold) Johnson and Cindy (Stephen) Anderson, both of Kokomo, Mary (John) Sullivan of Galveston, Shelley (Randall) Schroeder of Burlington; grandchildren Lindsay, Katelyn, Connor, Madelyn, Noelle, Amelia, Isla, Blake, Bryce, Hunter, Bailey, Walker, Ashlynn, and Charlotte; one great grandson Gavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Stephen Duncan, and one step-son Shane Hostetler.

Jeffrey T. McCoy

Jeffrey Todd McCoy, 51, of Kokomo, passed away on December 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born on June 23, 1964 to the late James Earl and Janice Claire (Spangler) McCoy. He served in the military for eight years.

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Jasmine McCoy, Margaret McCoy, and Basil McCoy all of Kokomo; siblings, Steve (Darlene) McCoy of Kokomo, and Carrie (Mark) Enstrom of Greentown; grandchildren, Asjhana Cosley, Tashia Cosley, Jocelyn McCoy, Amelia McCoy, and Roman McCoy; niece, Victoria Enstrom, and nephews Michael Thomas, and Logan Esntrom.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Michelle McCoy, Brian McCoy, and Scott McCoy; and a nephew, James McCoy.
