According to a Kokomo Police Department release, an altercation resulted in a local 18 year old sustaining a non-fatal gunshot wound yesterday.
On August 8, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers of the KPD were dispatched to St. Vincent Hospital of Kokomo regarding a male patient being dropped off. The patient was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest and upper arm.
Investigators spoke with the victim who was identified as 18-year-old Matthew Taylor of Kokomo. Taylor told investigators that he and a friend, identified as 18-year-old Kaden Boston of Kokomo, were in the 400 block of South Washington Street when they were approached by two juvenile males. An altercation ensued. During the altercation, Taylor sustained a gunshot wound to his chestupper arm.
Taylor underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition at the time of the release.
