Three adults were arrested for child neglect over the weekend after leaving children unattended in parked vehicles.

On July 27, the Kokomo Police Department responded to two separate retail locations on reports of these incidents. The first report, a report of an infant left unattended in a parked vehicle, took place at 12:29 p.m. in the 2100 block of East Boulevard Street. Officer Ted Mygrant responded and broke the window out of the vehicle to gain access to the 5-month-old child.

Local temperatures were reported to be 86 degrees at that time. Medical personnel responded to the scene. The child did not require hospitalization. Child Protective Services was notified and assisted in this investigation.

Adrienne J. Hizer, 35, of Kokomo was arrested for one count of child neglect.

The other report took place around 10 p.m. after citizens called KPD to report two children left unattended in a vehicle parked in the 1900 Block of East Markland Avenue. The two children, ages 2 and 8, allegedly were left in a vehicle parked at that location. Officers located the two children and subsequently arrested two adults for child neglect. Child Protective Services was notified and assisted with this investigation.

Kalencia K. Anderson, 34, of Kokomo and Alexander Jamaal Griffin, 31, of Kokomo were arrested for child neglect.
