Shot fired at cashier in early-morning attempted robbery

Kokomo Police Department is investigating after an attempted armed robbery occurred early this morning in which the suspect allegedly fired a shot at a cashier.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to Qwik Stop at 804 E. Markland Ave., in reference to an attempted armed robbery. The clerk, a 19-year-old Kokomo male, reported one male entered the store wearing a cartoon mask, black-and-green checkered flannel jacket, red sweat pants, tennis shoes, and gloves.   


The suspect was also armed with a handgun. He approached the front counter, demanded cash from the register, and fired one shot at the clerk. The suspect then fled out the front door without obtaining any cash from the register.

No injuries were reported. This case remains active for investigation.
