Police: Resident shoots man who gained entry to apartment

The Kokomo Police Department is investigating after they say a man was shot by a resident after he gained entry to the person’s apartment.

Yesterday just before 10 p.m. KPD officers responded to Turtle Creek Apartments, 2241 W. Jefferson St., for a reported residential entry in progress. A short time later, officers were notified the suspect had gained entry to the apartment and had been shot by the resident.

Upon arrival officers located the suspect, Kris V. Bratton, 49, of Kokomo suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach. After being transported to St. Vincent Hospital of Kokomo, Bratton was transported to St. Vincent, Indianapolis, due to the nature of his injuries. He is in stable condition at the time of this release.
