Candidate forum

The General Election is fast approaching, and with it is a chance for residents to hear where the candidates stand on various issues.

The candidate forums will kick off on Sept. 26 with a forum for all three mayoral candidates – Republican Tyler Moore, Democrat Abbie Smith, and Libertarian Michael Virgin. Also included in that evening’s proceedings will be forums for races in the Kokomo Common Council First District (incumbent Democrat Mike Wyant and Republican Jason Acord), and another for the Fourth District (incumbent Democrat Donnie Haworth, Republican Greg Jones, and Libertarian Daniel Purvis). The event will begin at 6 p.m. at IUK’s Havens Auditorium.

The second round of forums will be held on Oct. 3 beginning at 6 p.m. This event will include vying for the three at-large positions on the council. Candidates in this race include incumbent Democrats Bob Hayes, Mike Kennedy, and Matt Sedam. Republicans vying for this position are Matt Grecu, Tony Stewart, and Kara Kitts-McKibben.

Candidates in the Second District and Third District also will participate. In the Second District, incumbent Democrat Bob Cameron faces Republican Lynn Rudolph. In the Third District, Republican Ray Collins faces Democrat Cathy Cox-Stover.

The Kokomo Perspective, Kokomo Tribune, League of Women Voters, and Greater Kokomo chamber of Commerce are putting on the forums.
