Women’s Health Information Session
The community is invited to attend a free lunch and learn talk on “Life After Menopause” on Sept. 19 at the Kokomo Family YMCA. Dr. Robert Kinsey, with more than 35 years specializing in women’s health, will be speaking from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on key factors of women’s health in the years during and following menopause. A free boxed lunch will be provided to the first 40 attendees. Dr. Kinsey is a physician specializing in gynecological care and women’s health with the Community OB/GYN Center, located at 3510 S. Lafountain Street in Kokomo. Please RSVP by Sept. 17 to Michelle Cook at 765.457.4447. The YMCA is located at 114 N. Union St.
Teens, Earn Volunteer Hours
Hey, teens, we need your help. The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group that advises our teen librarian on how to make the library a more teen-friendly place by suggesting programs, events, books, and lock-in activities. If you’re in seventh through 12th grades and interested in getting involved with the library (and logging volunteer hours in the process), please call the Teen Librarian at 626-0818. The Teen Advisory Board will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at KHCPL Main.
Get Help with Genealogy Charts
The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library can show you several diﬀerent types of genealogy charts, explain how they are helpful, and teach you how to ﬁll in the blanks. Join us for the Genealogy Short Class: Filling Out Basic Charts, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at KHCPL Main. Online registration required at KHCPL.org, under “Events.”
Girl Scouts, Earn at Badge at KHCPL
Through stories, song, games, and a snack, children ages 5 to 8 will learn the importance of protecting nature while exploring the great outdoors during the Friends in Nature program. It’ll be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom at KHCPL Russiaville. Girl Scouts can earn a badge!
The Central Indiana Snowmobile Club is holding its first meeting of the season on Sept. 19 at Pizza Hut on South Reed Road in the basement. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in joining are welcome to attend.
South Side Christian Church, 201 E. Markland Ave., is having a rummage sale on Sept. 19 to 20 from 8 to 4 p.m. both days. There will be a bake and craft sale too.
