Freedom Fund Banquet

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) Freedom Fund Banquet takes place Oct. 11 at Elite Banquet & Conference Center, 2820 S. Lafountain St. The theme is “When we fight, we win.” Social hour is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. The program and dinner takes place at 6 p.m. The speaker is Attorney Barbara Bolling-Williams, president of NAACP Indiana. Famous Fish and Chips Fry

It’s back! After a three-and-a-half year hiatus, St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St., announces the return of its “famous” fish and chips fry on Oct. 11 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be beer-battered cod, potato wedges, cole slaw or applesauce, and beverages in parish hall. Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, and free to children 5 and under. Dessert it $1 extra. Carry-out orders are available by calling 457-2075. Proceeds will benefit missionary and outreach programs.
