kids therapy

ACTION — Bona Vista’s Physical Therapist Karin Van den Broeck works with Korbyn M-H. on his gross motor skills. The therapists are available each Wednesday morning by appointment to provide insight, guidance, and resources to those who may be concerned their child has a developmental delay.

Did you miss our most recent free Positive Results for Kids Therapies Developmental Screening? That’s OK! You’re probably not alone. We always have people calling us after the fact because life sneaked up on them, and they forgot to schedule their appointment. Well, lucky for you, we have another option!

Our Positive Results for Kids Therapy program offers weekly mini-screenings every Wednesday for children ages birth through elementary school. These screenings are free – thanks, in part, to a generous donation from our friends at We Care Kokomo – and occur by appointment between 8 and 9 a.m. They are conducted by licensed therapists to check for developmental delays and help give you peace of mind.

What happens at these mini-screenings? This is a time for you to come and talk to pediatric specialists for free. Children will be screened for their fine motor skills, self-help skills, gross motor skills, social skills, and cognitive skills.

You might be thinking, “Well, by the time they are elementary school-age wouldn’t you already know if there’s a developmental delay?” Maybe. But, maybe you just aren’t sure what to do about it. Perhaps it’s a social skill. It could be any number of things that, in the back of your mind, you think might be an issue, but you’ve always been afraid to say out loud or ask anyone about. These free screenings are your chance.

If there actually is an issue, we can provide you with options and resources. If there actually isn’t anything to be concerned with, then you have that peace of mind going forward.

We are conducting these screenings in an effort to expand our early intervention outreach and provide specialty therapy resources to the community. We want to help you. We know that parenting is hard work. We often second-guess our decisions and wish there was a handbook to review. Well, there’s not. But, what we can offer at Bona Vista is a little peace of mind by opening up our therapists schedules and making them available to you.

It takes a village to raise kids, they say, so let us partner with you in your village.

If you have questions, call for an appointment. If you have concerns, call for an appointment. If you want to come alone to see what would be involved if you brought your child, call for an appointment. We are transparent. We really are here as a benefit to help you and your child.
