Bona Vista

On Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m., Bona Vista is going to do something it’s never done before but that we hope to do on a regular basis. Are you excited?

This new event is open to any man, woman or child of any age, will only cost $20, and there will be snacks! It will be especially neat for those of you who love Halloween, who enjoy spending time with loved ones, or who appreciate creating cool art pieces. It could even be a nice date night, family fun event, or cheap relaxation session.

What in the world is it? We will host our first-ever B-cause It’s Art Halloween Bisque Painting Class to benefit the adults at Bona Vista Programs.

What’s the best part (in my opinion)? All you have to do is show up! We will take care of the rest.

For this first event, participants will have the choice of one of four Halloween-themed coffee mugs to paint. They will create their masterpiece in whatever colors they enjoy, and then we will apply a clear glaze. Once that process is complete, we will fire their item in our kiln to be picked up the following week.

Support Local Journalism

Now, more than ever, the world needs trustworthy reporting—but good journalism isn’t free. Please support us by making a contribution.

The class will be held at our newly-named Jill S. Dunn Center, 1800 S. Plate St. We anticipate being done by 7 p.m. Some people may get done earlier, and that’s totally OK! Take as much or as little time working out the details of the mug that you can keep for yourself or give as a gift.

Pre-registration is required, and spots are limited! Only 16 participants will be able to participate in this first class. To get registered or for more information, call me (Alison Brantley) at 765-457-8273 ext 335 or email abrantley@bonavista.org.

We don’t have a firm date for our second one, but it will be in November – think Santa mugs – so be sure to look for registration closer to time! We look forward to doing this several times a year, and hope you’ll enjoy it as well.

In the meantime, if you’ve never checked out The Corner Décor art studio, 127 N. Buckeye St., be sure to do that! Our persons served have been working on many new ceramic items (similar to the mugs we will make on Aug. 23) to don the shelves for you to purchase. They have everything from vases and measuring cups to leaf-shaped votive holders and cheese/cracker platers and everything in between!
