During many of my articles I’ve talked to you about special events Bona Vista is putting on and the numerous programs we have. You’ve even heard me talk about how we are hiring. Do you know why I’m so passionate about recruiting new staff?
The people we serve deserve it. They deserve to have people who show up to work on time every single day. They deserve to have people who want to come to work and make their lives better. They deserve to have people who don’t look at them like a “job” or just a “paycheck” but instead like they are people who need cared for with respect. They deserve to have people who will play games with them, take them out to go places, or simply take the time to listen to them talk about the day they’ve had.
Isn’t that what most of us want out of the people in our lives, too?
I could go on and on to emphasize my point, but that is literally the bottom line.
Could we fill our empty spots with warm bodies? Sure. But, those we serve deserve people who want to come to Bona Vista and stay for a long time. Our other employees deserve co-workers who will show up and support them every day. Our community deserves people who will represent our organization well and be an example of how to treat adults with disabilities with the utmost respect.
When you come to work at Bona Vista you become family. That may sound cliché, but it’s the truth!
So, who do you know who you could send our way? We are looking for good, compassionate, caring, and loyal individuals! We are looking for people who may want to work fulltime or part-time. We are even looking for people who may just want to work in the evening or on the weekends. We are looking for people in Kokomo, Peru, Logansport, and Tipton. You all know way more people than I do! If we work together, I know we can find the right people to join our team and care for those we serve.
You know what else is super exciting in the world of recruitment, though? We just hired a brand-new staff recruiter! Her name is Marcy Kistler, and you may know her. She’s been around the Kokomo community for years. She graduated from Peru and has lived in Kokomo since 2003. She is married to Charles, and together they have two children, Morgan and Gabe.
She’s a go-getter. If you’ve ever looked up the definition in the dictionary, you’ve probably seen her picture. She’s involved in many local non-profits as a volunteer, as well as being involved in her children’s sports and activities. She’s not afraid to ask questions and bust through challenges head first. She’s already thinking of new and innovative ways that we can look at how we recruit quality staff, and I’m excited for her fresh perspective.
Let me say, though, that I’m not just excited to have the staff recruiting position filled. I’m excited to have it filled with the right person. Marcy is passionate about what we do at Bona Vista. She has volunteered with us for years during our special events, and has jumped in to our day-to-day culture with both feet. I can’t wait for you all to meet her out and about at community career fairs or to see her posts on the Bona Vista Recruiting Facebook page (@bvjobs). I’m confident you’ll be just as excited when you do!
