Meridian Park

SIXTY — Students and educators from the Acacia Academy visit Meridian Park and enjoy the new amenities the City of Kokomo’s Parks & Recreation Department has added to the playground area. Come see for yourself on Thursday, July 12, from 11 to 1 p.m.

This month, it sounds like all we are doing is celebrating. And, that’s not too far from the truth! Last week I told you about Christmas in July to benefit our adult day service programs. It is still going strong, and we could still use your help. Check out our Facebook page (@bonavistaprogramsinc) to see how you can get involved!

This week, though, I want to tell you about a party we are going to throw on Thursday, July 12, at Meridian Park (corner of Harrison Street and Apperson Way) from 11 to 1 p.m. This party will kick off the 60 days leading up to our 60th birthday on Sept. 12 and a special social media campaign we are starting: #60to60. However, we would not be a part of this wonderful community if it weren’t for you all – so mark your calendars because you’re all invited!

We will provide hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks courtesy of our friends at Coca-Cola Kokomo. There will be inflatables for the children and a DJ for everyone to enjoy. We would love to see you! You can take a look inside our community room where our staff recruiter will be set up to help people fill out online job applications or answer any questions you may have about working at Bona Vista.

You also can check out the new playground equipment the City of Kokomo put in and get to know us a little better. Fun activities will be provided by our Child Care Solutions program, and information about our Early Childhood programs will be available! You don’t have to stay for the entire two hours, but come and go as you have time to check out all of the new amenities.

And, who knows? You could end up in a special 60th anniversary video our friend Kevin Sprinkle is creating that will premiere early fall! You could be famous just for showing up to have a little fun.

I mentioned #60to60 earlier. If you’re not on social media, you may be confused about the hashtag in front of the numbers. It’s OK. It’s really just a way for us to find all of the posts that will be happening during these 60 days on our social media sites. If you’re on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and you come to any of our events, we would love for you to use this hashtag, too! Help us spread the word to your friends and family. The more people who come, the merrier!

We can’t wait to celebrate our next 60 years with you and look forward to seeing you at Meridian Park on July 12 from 11 to 1 p.m.
