There are only three water circus stages in the world: one in Las Vegas, one in Dubai, and starting tonight, one in Kokomo.

Cirque Italia, America’s first animal-free traveling water circus, is making a four-day stop in Kokomo, and its first show starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Kokomo Event & Conference Center. According to Sarah Kessler, a media representative with Cirque Italia, the show is unlike any other circus.

“What’s different with our circus show in regards to other circus performances is, one, we’re strictly animal-free, and two, we have this huge traveling water stage,” said Kessler.

The 35,000-gallon water stage is made up of locally-pumped water, and Kessler said every droplet is “meticulously” controlled by an “ultra-modern water curtain.”

Words and patterns can be seen as the water falls into the “lagoon” bellow that’s synchronized with the performers who come from across the world and perform stunts from aerial acts to hand balancing and contortionism to juggling. Other features include a “laser man” and the “wheel of death.” The show includes more than 30 artists from 25 different countries.

The first show takes place tonight at 7:30 p.m. Cirque Italia runs through Sunday. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The tent is climate-controlled.

Tickets start at $10, and children are admitted free with every full-priced paying adult ticket in levels 2 or 3 (cannot be combined with other offers). Tickets can be purchased at the gate, ahead at by choosing “Water Circus Gold,” or by calling 941-704-8572.
